LostAlone
Hey guys, I'm thinking of starting up a new marine army (cuz you really can never have too many, right ?) and after reading through the Badab War books, I figured I quite liked the look of the Fire Angels because of the 'up and coming barebones chapter' fluff, but also because the newness of them gives me a fair amount of leeway into making them my own. I like the colours as they are illustrated in the book, but the problem is that we all know that painting models silver never comes out as the kind of grey-with-a-shimmer that you get when you draw them. So I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about how to get models which are almost entirely silver not look all that silver after all... Off the top of my head I figure that maybe having non-metallic for most of the armor and only using silver in the highlights, or going half-grey half-silver in the main colour, or possibly using one of the metallic mediums that there are out there to get 'shiny grey' rather than silver. Anyway, I'm just spitballing here really, what do you guys think ? Grotsmasha
I'd say try dulling the shine with Badab Black wash, then highlight again with pure silver?
