New Wolves on the way?

I have just been on the GW UK site to buy the metal Wolf Guard with twin Wolf Claws mini only to find it is no longer available for order!

With the reported rumours running around the web that the Space Wolves maybe getting a long awaited second wave I decided to have a look what else is no longer available on the UK site and this is what I found......

Ragnar Blackmane

Bjorn the Fell-handed

Wolf Guard with Wolf Claws

Lukas the Trickster

Space Wolf Rune Priest in Terminator Armour

So what does this all mean?? Who knows!

I hope to see a New Ragnar and Rune Priest in TDA sculpts, while I can see that both Lukas and the Wolf Guard will more than likely be re-done in Finecast. As for Bjorn, is it beyond possibility that we will see a full/conversion kit in plastic??? I for one hope not!

What do you think this means?

A new ragnar would be great even in in finecast the old one is almost 20 years old now

aye I hate the static model - I mean c'mon he's basically a blood claw with lord merits haha he should have movement!! bjorn idk I quite like the old model though it'd be nicer in plastic.

the WG with twin claws is a brilliant model :P

god knows why they'd stop making the lukas model as it's brilliant, whereas the TDARP is a terrible clunky model that needs a serious rework especially after they produced the wonderful Njal model.

I love the classic Ragnar sculpt. I'd hate to see the model that basically defines how space wolves look today get replaced - It's lasted 20 years for a reason.

Nonononono...

It's lasted this long because of GW's "ain't broke, don't fix" policy. However, the model itself looks like the roadkill guy from Beetlejuice that hangs from a clothesline. Static pose with arms off to the side like he's shaking pom-poms.

It has likely lasted as long as it has because it was one of the first sculpts to be molded when GW changed their aesthetic somewhere between Rogue and 2E, and for whatever reason, they're probably somehow proud of it in an honorific sense. But compare it to standard models now; Gabriel Seth, Kor'Sarro Khan, the generic SM Librarian, even Logan. The model as current would look more natural if it was closer in pose to the new Marneus Calgar and how his arms are positioned (minus the TDA of course), but all we get for him, Ulrik, and the Njal in PA are sculpts that look like they were press-molded from a prison facility license plate machine.

Forgive me for any heresy but I need to type something ... I am converting Seth into a Ragnar :D. I do think the 2nd ed models need a refit though ... and Bjorn seems more fitting to be a Contemptor Dread.

not to be a complete killjoy here but ... the wolfguard with twin claws is still on the uk website, it's just down in the collectors section =x

Still fingers crossed :D

they're all still on the website brother - but you can't actually buy them it says the Price and Quantity but you can't add it to the shopping cart, it says - Availability: No Longer Available

Thats not heresy.Seth is the running dude with the long chainsword right?if so then some people already converted him into Raganr.

Heresy is this : Im changing my Wolves into Thousand Sons cannon fodder

:D :D

Maybe I have been lucky with finecast products but then I have only purchased a couple of them. The one thing that kept me from buying the Canis model when he first came out was the fact that it was metal. I have long loathed and multi-part kits that GW has produced when the medium was white metal. The fit sucks ass and I hate having to spend more time on filling gaps then painting them.... mostly because I suck at working with putty and fillers on that scale. I guess that comes with being a wood worker and I get to use an air sander for smoothing out wood putty. :P

So while they may or may not come out in resin this will be of little matter to me. I will still buy them. Will I buy five of them or just one, that is yet to be determined.

And while the older HQ/elite figs have gone away from the UK site. They are still available from the US online store as of this writing. Though we have not been able to get Lukas since his splash release over here.

Seth is who I used for my Ragnar too.

Khan looks like he's giving his sword a hug and for the most part, Seth looks like a trotting pony. Logan is the only sculpt in the SW range I would refuse to own...

Tastes differ and maybe, like GW, I'm reluctant to give up the "first of the new aesthetic", but I still think its level of detail means it can compete 20 years later, even if the pose is 100% static.

I would be really nice with a new and great Ragnar mini.

And they should make a frame with swords, axes and so on only. I really need more frost weapons for both left and right hands when building wolf guards. And while they are at it they should make each weapon more unique.

the WG with twin claws is a brilliant model :P

If, by brilliant, you mean the designer expertly captured what it would look like if a Wolf Guard tripped over the lip of a Drop Pod ramp, while trying to disembark, then yes, he's brilliant.

ooooh meow val haha - I would reposition the arms sure but I do rather like the model as a good basis for conversion :cuss
