And when did GH gain runic armour?

I see no issue for GH standard bearer having special armor. Afterall they have the honor of wielding the companies storied banners. My standard bearers have specialized armor (heresy or pre heresy for example).

Older armour marks are fair enough. I love seeing older stuff mixed in.

If it was for a Great Company standard, which was carried by a trusted WG with runic armour then this would work for me. As it stands though, being offered one standard which can be used in multiple units, costing a fortune, with WYSIWYG option which you can't have. Is just stupid. Why not put a pole holding arm and a few banner options on a sprue or even the way the Nid LW/BS are done.

Another GW clanger.

After cutting up a Finecast Canis model, I found that the material used is quite easy, dare I say easier to convert than metal??!! :whistling: /sarcasm

Buy the Standard. Cut off the bearers hand holding the axe. Glue another hand in it's place holding what ever you want it to. Done.

Personally I want to convert two of the bearers. One holding up a tankard of ale (any ideas where to find a mini tankard?????), and the other one flipping the bird. It's too funny (to me, at least) for me to pass up!!

you can buy the olde Bugman Dwarf model - he be a brewer and has tankard :whistling:

maybe change up the PF with pointing finger for the birdy.

While we celebrate the new releases and FINALLY getting the last of our 5th ed. stuff...

Please have a moment of silence for the loss of our greatest weapon, the Bjorn in a sock.

Woo hoo...that's one less reason for me to duck around. RIP exterminatusock

Dont worry, plenty of vets will still be runnin around with them :D

Poop. Oh well.

As for my 'runic' issue with the SB. I just know that I don't like the mini. That and I've seen some really good kit bash ones on here done at a fraction of the price.

Good example is the Chaos Marauder Horsemen box set which is 50p more expensive. Has a nice size banner, axes, shields and plenty of good heads too. Plus a unit if you play fantasy.

Just want to say that if any of you run Harald Deathwolf's Great Company or are considering it, I would highly recommend picking up this month's WD. In addition to some neat painting guides and the like, Phil Kelly has written some unique fluff for Harald.

Yeah, looks like we have two more WLs(Harald and Morkai) now with a little more recent background (not sure about 2nd ed). It's great to be a wolf

So, my son and I wandered into our local GW today to see what was left of all the new SW toys. They had plenty of the boxes, but only 3 of the Arjac blisters. I asked the manager where the other blisters were, and he said that they have to be ordered through mail order (because of the anticipated high demand). Anyone else encounter this?

Picked up a box of TWC today. Great kit imo. My only complaint is the complete lack of helmets. I'm really happy to have some new bare heads to pass around my army, but I would have much rather had some older armor mark helmets that are SW themed. I don't use my Mark VIIs at all.

yup my store had loads of these people had pre-ordered and sold out every new space wolf model by 1pm on the first day of sale. What can you say they they were wise to pre-order

Yup yup I am sooo getting that :)

Encountered some bad news regarding my failcast TWL kit. First glance, with all the flash covering the sprue, it was scary as hell.

Once everything was clipped, I discovered that the top portion of the wolf head was slightly misaligned, requiring some intricate filing in between tufts of fur to keep the furry texture.

Next I discovered that his left ear had barely received any resin, so after builting that up with liquid gs, accidentally snapping it off, and reapplying gs again, it ended up slightly bulkier than the right ear and more scarred-looking.

Last problem I encountered was the failure of a backpack. Not only is that little antenna thing pointless, it was covered in so much excess flash that trimming it down caused it to snap off. On top of that, the top of the pack at the edges meeting up with the gap to the exhaust pods were not filled at all with huge bubbles per side. Still in the process of building them back up, only to file them back down later to display the gold trim.

The model overall is gorgeous... but with all the liquid GS coating it, I'm concerned as to how my copy will measure up when finally painted. At $42 USD, I'd be hard-pressed to buy another one of these, despite all the converting potential from the added bits.

(Oh, and the 1k Sons corpse torso had a mis-pour on the top crest of his helm.. ended up shaving it down and adding another claw mark to make it look more damaged, but regardless, :) GW)

If you had all of these issues why did you assemble it? Why not just email GW and get a new one?

I'm sorry. I know you probably wanted to work on it today because you had just dropped the cash. Everyone wants to play with their new toys, but that was...a bad decision.

I just see a lot of people that get stuck with bad Finecast models complaining about all the work they had to do to it and I think to myself, "why?"

Why didn't you just accept that it was :cussed, tell GW, and get a brand new one? Better yet...why would you choose to do this to yourself and then complain about it afterwards?

Bad Finecast miniature: GW's fault

Assembling a bad Finecast miniature and not liking the results: Your fault

You paid nearly fifty bucks. When two of my Wracks had flat cast feet I was on the phone fifteen minutes later. Resulting in a brand new box of perfect casts four days later. We, as consumers, are victims of circumstance far too often. Exercise your right to the product quality you paid for. GW knows their models have problems. They will help us with nearly no questions asked.

I'm sorry you got dealt a crappy hand by the fickle Lady Finecast, but you took that crap and made it a crap sandwich. Now you've got to eat it. What's the point in going around and telling people it tastes bad?

For starters, I didn't bother thinking about sending it back, because 9 times out of 10, the quality will be exactly the same.

And I wasn't complaining so much as pointing out where others should look when inspecting their finecast. I'm confident enough to claim above average gs skills, so it was a matter of 30 minutes to repair. I'm making mention of it to help others.

That ratio simply isn't true, but I understand not wanting to wait to find out the hard way.

I have below average green stuff skills so I'd rather just get a good sculpt. Finecast is a luck of the draw adventure. I've only had problems with two out of fifteen models so I've been fortunate so far.

My Failcast TWL will be going back without a doubt. Most of the pics I took didn't come out that well, but this one gives an overall feel for the "quality". The backpack is pretty much all bubbles at the top. The frost axe is wrecked, Lord has feet issues, his mount must have chewed at them. A lot of the pieces were just rattling around in the packaging, but that could be heavy handling from the courier.

I am sorry to hear of the increasing amounts of poor pours on our new Thunderlord!!

I got 5 Fen Wolves assembled yesterday along with 2 TWC which I also got primed. I had very little shaving to do off of either kit. The FW took me no time at all, are super simple to assemble but are going to need a little GS love. The TWC on the other hand are much more time consuming, but worth it in the end. I use a little liquid GS to cover the seams, but other then that the models look great!!

Here's a few photos!!

End of Line

I have been really fortunate with finecast. Have only had one issue and that with the Lord on Thunder Wolf. The frame that his head is on had it's mold not properly aligned so everything is about a 32nd of an inch off. Sent GW CS an email and will wait for them to reply. The rest of the model is fine.
