Lone Wolf finished in an evening

I have to admit, at first my immediate reaction was, WRONG!!

Then I spent a minute wracking my brain to try remember what chapter colour scheme that was (Howling Griffons - all hail Fred Reed).

Then I read your fluff and changed my opinion entirely. That my friend is quite a cool idea. The Lone Wolf fluff isn't about the canis helix, it's about oath taking to avenge your fallen pack mates. I see no reason why marines from other chapters can't be similarly affected by the deaths of their battle brothers, and as already said, it's a BIG galaxy. Marines take part in campaigns and crusades with other chapters and I can certainly see raids and rescues going. It works for me and might even steal the idea.

My my, you go away for a weekend and everyone starts replying!

I'll try and get a bit in for everyone, so here we go:

Looks like most (pretty much all) people got the point of it, which is nice. I've not actually got round to writing this guy's story properly yet, I'm midway through the story for the 'other one' (Sergeant Artemon) and one for the Grey Hunter squad that finds him. I named this guy Casion this weekend, his hand was lost when his rescuers (unnamed yet) had to cut it off to free him. I've only got some brief notes taken down at the moment, but he doesnt have a hand for (currently) two reasons that I'm playing around with in my head: the SW medical facilities only has the ability to work on SW genetic material, so they can't graft him a new hand etc and (the more likely one) he refuses to have a replacement until he feels that he has made amend to his squad.

It's really going to be something along the lines of that his squad brothers paid the ultimate price and the price of a hand is not satisfactory enough to be equal. Or something like that. I haven't fully decided yet. Also, trying to avoid cliches as well. Actually, the Thousand Sons part of the story isn't entirely clear at the point. There's a bit more explanation in my other pieces I'm writing about this 'caste' (if that's the right word, been a while since I read 1K Sons), (cult will probably suffice) being much more debased and cruel. They've sort of wandered a little off the path of gaining knowledge, but that's a story for another time. I've really been enjoying my writing this last month or so, and I'll share that with you guys when I feel it's bearable to read.

Yes, he will want to return to his own Chapter, which he will be able to do in time. At the current point in my army fluff, their galactic posistion is unknown to them, so they need to establish where they are before trying to return him, Sergeant Artemon (the other freed marine) or themselves to Fenris.

Jimmy Carmine - Almost like you read my mind a little there! I listened to an audio book recently about Blood Angels and I was half tempted to have a BA guy, but I decided against it due to the black rage. Obviously, he'd just go bat-:tu: crazy and it wouldn't really work. A bit like that lone loyalist World Eater on a traitor ship in a HH book I heard about, happily chopping his way through anything in arms reach....

Inquisitor Kravin - I'll take a swing in the dark and guess it's Pete?. You're totally right on the wolves that you can take. I doubt I'd actually field wolves in a game with him for this very reason; it's plain not right. The only thing I could think of using instead would be a pair of servo skulls that fly around with him....maybe to record his actions to make sure he's not traitor or showing signs of mutation? Just an idea I thought of on the spot.

And to those I irked with my 'uncharacterful' comment - I think I probably didn't work myself right with that one in retrospect. The Lone Wolf entry is my favourite choice in the book, I've just personally always found it hard to come up with a character that fitted the bill, but wasn't just basically similar to the normal outlook of the Wolves. Not sure if that's a clearer explanation or not either actually.....I've actually built a SW for you guys now, I'll see if I can paint him up tomorrow and take pictures. Then you guys can name him, as he's made for you! Now...to see if I can have a steady enough hand to paint the red, white and black circle on the forum logo on a pad....

Life's always more fun with a little controversy......go away Lukas. I'm not looking for your help today.....go take your statis bomb somewhere else....

Cheers for the input guys, it's appreciated! ^_^ If I've missed you out when you wanted some info, I apologise. You can always PM me and I'll reply!

Ha ha, there's a face that screams "Of all the Chapter's of the Adeptus Astartes who could have rescued me, why did have to be them!"

Haha, excellent. I saw the da model as "the other one" and instantly thought "there's a story that writes itself."

And yes, loving that facial expression.

Well done.
