Just a few Q&A

1) are people going to model their own Redmaw until Forgeworld makes a mini? What are you going to use until then to represent him?

2) the dark sagas on the contemptor dreadnoughts. Which do you prefer and why?

3) this isn't really a question, more like wish listing but it would have been cool or nice to have some of those dark sagas for our current dreadnoughts in our codex.

4) have you fielded either Bran Redmaw or a contemptor Dread? and how did they work out in your games? A reason why I ask is, I'm interested in buying a contemptor dread.

Made my own Bran from the picture in the 3rd edition codex I still have. Granted, its not all that great and I'm starting a new one. As far as the dreadnought I may get one. Hoever, I have a problem with it being older than Bjorn. Especially since I have the 2nd edition pewter figure.

1) already working on one, as i asked FW Facebook page and was told that there is no release date for a Redmaw fig, the WiP was just a WiP

2) i am not a huge fan of the contemptors (SO MANY POINTS) but i would have to go with Forsaken One. The furious charge granted by the Black Cull seems cool, but i dont believe many opponents with get pack the AV13 so i dont need to worry about striking first, and the +1 S is redundant as the Dread is already S10 with its DCCW. the Iron God means i have to go up against one of the few things that can take the Contemptor down in CC to get my oath, which i frown upon with its high point cost. I wotn be giving my opponents any chance of a fair fight.

So give it 2 DCCW and the Forsaken Oath, and wreck faces whether you are charged or charging.

3. Probably Forsaken Oath, for the reasons in answer 2

4. i havent fielded either yet, but plan to field Bran once my WiP is closer to being completed.

I was thinking of modding a rat ogre to be the redmaw, figuring that its muscley and larger then a standard marine but not too big to be a massive target.

I want a contemptor BAD, love the model and rules. I'm going to try and run a counts as to see if the points are worth it or not.

I tried Bran out in a game. The outlanking grey hunters is a neat trick and worked well teamed up with my drop pod full of plasma gh that I dropped a turn before.

When he turned to Redmaw I managed to whiff my rolls against a rhino and then managed to whiff again when my friends TWC came on from reserve and charged him. They made short work of him dropping him in the first turn of the assault. He didn't do squat really once he turned but that could just be bad die rolls paired with fighting a unit of 3 twc(fb+bp,ss,stock).

I wouldn't mind trying him again, it was an interesting game and changed how then entire game went down.

Atm im testing out a Contemptor with Conversion beam and carapace-mounted cyclone missiles. Stick him with either long fangs or a defensive unit of grey hunters. He causes some great panic in enemies for the first turn.

So far he has immobilized Two land raiders first turn, wiped out entire units of marines first turn as well as taken out a large number of other things throughout the turns of play. He is definitely a long ranged sniper with this set up but can still hold his own in close combat. The inv saves really help alot too.

The SW Contemptor with furious charge shines like a big star on the battlefield when you use it with that dreadnought drop pod from forge world that lets you assault out of it. It is seriously dangerous to anything!

my only fear with that Drop Pod is when you assault out of it, you roll a D6. on a 1 the dread is immobilized.

not worth it on such a expensive model.

True that! But its not often you want to roll a 1 with anything....

To the first questions; I will wait and see when the ol'mates at FW will finish that Bran hopefully they will have something to show this April.

To the second questions I want to get one of each, no decision on weapons mostly because I love fluff. I like all 3 of them so will probably use them all when I can.

I sent FW an email asking about the Bran model and was told that he would be released later this year but they wouldn't give any dates. I am holding out for that models release. :(
