Great Company WIP's

Figured I would start this up here. I have been out of the hobby gaming wise for a few years. However, I have been doing my best to still collect and build/paint. Most of my models are the original metal marine bodies. I have been expanding my packs by adding and using the new plastics and using any left over bits to quite literally "re-arm" my old metal mines. I truly dislike the old judo-chop arms and old power packs they had.

I also have one of the original metal thunderhawks I plan to rebuild. I purchased it new back in '98 and did a horrible job of building it. It has since fallen apart due to weight, super glue breaking, moving and simply looking at it. It is currently sitting in an acetone bath to soften the glue and remove the 20 pots of paint it took to paint it.

First, some of the finished models.

Razorback with MK19 grenade launcher receivers for heavy bolters.

Bjorn, this one was painted by Shelly McKitrik.

Rhino's only one pictured, there are a couple of them. All are convertable to razorback/predator with use of magnets.

Scout Speeder. Yes I know we do not have them but we should and I thought the model was pretty cool. This one has been wolfed out a bit. It has had a layer of hairspray put on over the grey and will then have a camo paint scheme that gets weathered on top of it.

And my model of shame...

I have been giving a lot of thought to how to lighten this model by a couple of tons.... I will end up using as many plastic weapons as I can and maybe even recasting the engines in resin. I may even end up lengthening the body by a little bit the get it closer to FW thunderwahk in size.

If anyone knows of any online builds of the metal T Hawk please share!

Thanks for looking.

I have one of those metal Thunderhawks too! Mine is ALMOST completely built (~90%), but there are a few components that need re-worked. (I was not pleased with the front canopy/cockpit, so I did a lot of scratch-building for that on mine.) I've considered making it Blackmane company, just so that I might EVENTUALLY be able to sell the thing. (I think my usual Ironwolf Company insignia might be a bit too specific for if I decide to part with it.) It is NOT a light model, by any means. As I have seen the newer FW Thunderhawk, the old metal one is also smaller. Mine hasn't fallen apart at all because I used JB Weld epoxy to assemble it, and went through the tedious process of drilling and pinning nearly every join. It's SOLID.

You're welcome. And, no joke, I think you can tell how dusty the thing is from the pic. There might even be cobwebs visible in that pic.

For mine, I scratch built the pilot cupola and made the front ramp hinged, kept closed with a magnet. It still needs lots of paintwork on it though.

I'm a bit too busy with other projects to work on the T-hawk right now, but maybe I'll dust it off sometime and finish it up.

I broke out the airbrush today and did some work on the scout speeder.

Using Tamiya's NATO brown, black and green on the top side of the model. I left the belly SW/Shadow grey for a counter shade look.

I used a Q tip and tooth pic as well as an old paint brush with water and denatured alcohol for rubbing and scraping the paint.

A coat of testors dull coat was then applied. Glossy spots are wet dull coat.

Time for another bumpdate to this never ending spiral....

I managed to get some of my Wolf Guard nearly completely painted. Some final details and addition of some banners to the back poles.

I painted up 12 minis in this batch but have only mounted these eight. The others need to have the old metal tabs cut off and have brass rod drilled into the feet for proper mounting. I am using Secret Weapon Miniatures. Small shoulder shields are from Scibor.
