dragonknight4275
Hey guys. Haven't posted here in a while..... I need some information on Berek Thunderfist. I want to do a Great Company based around him, but there are two problems: 1) Fluff-wise, he has a power fist but I run wolf lords with frost blades (and storm shields and thunderwolves ;) ). How would I represent this without breaching the fluff? Power fist + frost blade and a shield slung on the back doesn't appeal to me, really. Seems like the extremely obvious and "cliche" thing to do. Maybe a bionic arm, but he VERY SPECIFICALLY has a power fist. 2) I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT HIM! Besides the fact that he was Ragnar's predecessor, and he was slain by a Chaos champion, I don't have the slightest idea what his personality is like, and don't even get me started on his (I believe currently non-existent) Great Company symbol. Anyone is welcome to throw in their two cents! I need anything anyone can give me. Thanks! BrotherRanik
Berek Thunderfist is my favorite wolf lord, his personality in the space wolf novels by William King is the whole reason I started to fall in love with the sons of Russ. I recommend you find the William King novels and read them for a good taste of his personality. As far as his model though, I use him as my frost blade wolf lord on thunderwolf as well as a on foot model. I have him raising his power fist in the air triumphantly and just use his other hand for an arm shield with a halberd gripped to represent the frost blade. Hope any of that helps. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee503/scurtisjr/DSCN5970.jpg *****Note: This picture was before I put the frost halberd in his shield hand***** Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/247904-berek-thunderfist/#findComment-3002231 Share on other sites
Khine
It seems like your torn between your playing style and your love of the fluff of this character. There is two possible options you could go. Represent Berek Thunderfist as ONLY a foot slogging character, Or; Find a scabbard that you could attach to his waist while hes on the wolf and use the pommel of one of our frost blades on the top of it. Then have his free hand in a fist in some interesting pose and paint it so people KNOW it's unique. actually another option, somehow find a way to incorporate the shield into the top of the powerfist .. like a buckler. Valerian
Hey guys. Haven't posted here in a while..... I need some information on Berek Thunderfist. I want to do a Great Company based around him, but there are two problems: 1) Fluff-wise, he has a power fist but I run wolf lords with frost blades (and storm shields and thunderwolves ;) ). How would I represent this without breaching the fluff?. You can't. If you really want to base your GC on him, then he won't have a Frost Blade, and won't be riding a TW. "Each Great Company has its own lair within the Fang and its own allocation of starships and weapons. Each company is led by a Wolf Lord and his circle of advisors. The company is known by the name of its Wolf Lord, and will often be identified by the runes which form his name in the Fenrisian language. Each Wolf Lord takes as his totem one of the legendary wolves of Fenris, which according to legend were tamed by Leman Russ in ancient times. The Wolf Lord's totem becomes the insignia of his Great Company and will be worn upon the armor of his followers. When a Wolf Lord dies his replacement chooses a new insignia for the Company. This means that the name and insignia of each Great Company are constantly changing, a fact that has caused some confusion amongst Imperial scholars in the past. For example, Ragnar's Great Company is named after its Wolf Lord, Ragnar Blackmane, who took as his totem the Blackmane Wolf, the Howler in the Night. Previously the Great Company was known as Barek's Great Company, after its Wolf Lord, Barek Thunderfist, and it bore as its insignia the Thunderwolf, who is said to still run before Russ around Fenris, the sound of its paws being the thunder, the glint of its teeth the lightning." ---White Dwarf 246. Ragnar_Blackmane
Berek Thunderfist wears Terminator armour and uses a Power Fist and a Storm Bolter (see the second LL. novel, I believe it's called "Wolf's Honour") in battle. He has a biotic fist (when not wearing TDA) as far as I recall from "Grey Hunter" which can be powered up just like a Power Fist. That's where his name comes from. Ironwulf
I'm currently re-reading the Space Wolves books right now. Grey Hunter has some direct interaction with Berek Thunderfist in it, including a couple of descriptions here and there (Grey Hunter is the 3rd book in the first SW Omnibus). Also-- I just read some of those interactions/descriptions last night.
