Going retro with a Land Speeder Storm

As some may know I am making a Great Crusade-era Thousand Sons army and, being of the opinion that land speeders are okay in this era (as I understand it people are divided), I'm looking to make a land speeder storm look a bit retro...perhaps something close to a 2nd edition speeder. One thing will be putting a carving of an eye on the front glacis plate similar to the 1kSons land speeder in Collected Visions.

I'm interested to see what other ideas/inspiration the B&C has on how to convert it?

Meh, I wouldn't go for that design above.

I would go with this style:

(from here)

And if it had to be modeled from a current Land Speeder, this is a good route:

That was actually in a B&C thread, which I linked above. He gives the details on how to pull it off. This would give you that front surface to adorn with the T-Son eye.

@EPK: I really like your conversion, even though I like the newer version better, yours is quite sweet.

@Rindaris: I remember when that model first came out. A gaming store that I used to buy GW figs from had one painted up in UM colors with a huge banner on the back that said, "LIKE ULTRA!".

At the same time, it was the funniest and coolest thing I had ever seen. Shortly after that, I got "the book", a box of Mk. VI plastic marines, and a box of three rhino's for $20. My, my, haven't we come a long way since then.
