Thunderwolves vs Wolf Guard Terminators

I'm in the process of building my Space Wolf army at this point and have the first 1k built. However as I begin to build to 1500 and beyond I'm thinking of where to take the direction of my force.

Are thunderwolves proving viable vs the Wolf Guard Terminators?

Basically it boils down to going as a Drop pod themed force that has a Ragnar close combat approach to things and having Wolf Guard Terminators, 30 GH, 2 Typhoons, and 2 squads of Long Fangs

or

Going for a themed Deathwolf/Canis style route, having either Harald/Canis lead a mech (point dependent) 30 GH, a pack of wolves, 4 TWC (1TH, 1SS, 2 as is) the typhoons and the same Long Fangs.

Im at a cross roads as to whether go the route I went years ago and play a straight up Ragnar charge, or use this codex to create a themed force.

I'm leaning towards the more themed Deathwolf force but wanted to know if such a force is as viable as the older play stlye I used to play in the older codex and game edition.

why not do both?you'll have tactical flexibility if you do and you're opponents will be left wondering which list you'll use(if you face the same people regularly)

I play both, and I loose games all day long!!

Seriously though, I think that you could easily find a happy medium for both in your army. Or at least two lists similar enough that switching out a couple squads won't hurt your pocket book, and can still supply you with enough enjoyment.

I've been playing Logan Wing for a couple of years, and the entire time I have been waiting for GW to release TWC to take my army to the 'next level' as the rappers say. At 1500 and up I have come up with (on paper, at least) some really strong looking lists (for me, that is...).

I would only suggest that if you take TWC kit them all differently for wound allocation silliness. 1TH, 1 SS, 1MB, 1 Stock. Or something like that.

End of Line

Thanks. I have both and will switch it up occasionally. I was curious though as to which ( if any) seems favored. I trust more in the familiar and terminators have rarely disappointed me.

I'm leaning towards the thunderwolves because I feel that it's a unique unit that differentiates the wolves from codex marines.

The question was more of my curiosity wanting opinions from players who have more playing experience.

While TDA Wolf Guard are undoubtedly a very strong unit, The TWC at least on paper are on par to be just as hard hitting though they do have less tactical diversity in their weapon options. However they are a iconic feature of our codex and the models for them are awesome so I would defiantly reccomend getting some if only for the ability to be able to use them
I personally never leave the Fang with out taking Thunder Cav. I run them frequently and always have great success with them. I too agree that you should kit them out for wound allocation. The amount of attacks and charge range plus their ferocity make them a fun unit to play (unfortunately other players aren’t always to fond of them). That’s my two cents worth anyways.
Thunder Wolves are a fantastic assualt unit, as generally they will be lurking in range of the Grey Hunters it rides with. You probably don't even need Caius with them, since even a moderatively tooled wolf lord is quite adiquit to handle himself on the battlefield but more importently grant the +2 to leadership that they need.
