Turn on your PS2/Original Xbox/PC.

Insert "Star Wars Battlefront 2".

Replace clone/storm troopers with Astartes.

Replace other races with 40K races. (Dark Eldar and Tau might be nice)

 

In all seriousness -

More classes. I found playing just as generic assault/tactical/devastator marines became dull pretty quickly. Add in the specialists (techmarines/apothecaries/etc), to add variety and different types of play. Techmarines could be CQB based (short range, nasty weaponry, potentially with close-combat weapons), apothecaries add in more team play via healing, etc.

 

I'm happy for Titus' story to continue in the Deathwatch, but perhaps it would be more fun/interesting if in the campaign we get to pick a specific character to play through as? (With multiple play through as the different characters) You could watch Titus as he is recruited into the DW. That way, rather than forcing the player to use X weapon in missions, you could play as a specialist who is supposed to use those weapons (meaning the campaign would be slightly different for each class).

Or - anyone remember the Conflict: Desert Storm/Global Terror series? You have a 4 man squad, and you can pick and choose who you play as in-game. You can give commands to whoever the computer controls. Want to play as the squad leader and no-one else? You can. Want to play only as the demo-man and go nuts with plastic explosive? You could. I think that kind of system for single player could be fun (such as ordering the marine with a heavy bolter to take up on high ground and hold fire until the enemy is in range, or ordering the techmarine to plant a demolition charge somewhere).

With six characters in the kill team, each from one of the chapters of the Deathwatch RPG.

 

aren't there like 12 chapters covered in the Deathwatch RPG now? Not to mention variants from several chapters (Dark Angel Ravenwing and Deathwing spring to mind)

For Space Marine 2, I like the idea of the story continuing with Titus in the Deathwatch while he's monitored for corruption. The new foe should be Tyranids so that they can also do "Space Hulk" levels.

This has been my thinking from my first playthrough of WH40K:Kill Team A game with ship exploration akin to Space Hulk even Space Crusade type missions.

The Deathwatch idea makes a lot of sense as well and Id quite like to see that happen. Id really like to see more armour/class varients I feel the ones we have in SM are a little too generic maybe a loot type system? Armour pickupas after certain missions or upgrades? Id like to see Termi armour definitely (especially against hi def 'Stealers) but Id also really like to see some of the other classes such as Chaplains,librarians etc.

 

The idea that someone mentioned of command/squad system similar to RC is brilliant! I can totally see that working. That is a very underrated game.
