my very first puppies

So I finally bought a box of space wolves to begin my army. I will eventually buy 2 battleforces so i won't be short on guys therefore i want to build the ones i have now as wolf guard.

I have two criteria; most importantly i want them to be interestingly modelled with lots of character, secondly i want them to work well in the game.

I can easily cast any of the weapon options so it is perfectly possible to have say 10 thunderhammers (not that i think thats a very good idea)

So how would you guys suggest building them up?

a couple of ideas i like are:

5 man squad, two thunder hammers, three storm shield 5 plasma pistols with jump packs

5 man squad, 5 pairs wolf claws (maybe jump paxks)

these are obviously very expensive points wise but i do like the ideas

any thoughts?

well i had my first idea of plasma pistols combined with power weapons and storm shields but then with pistols i figure they rally would want jump packs so they can actually get round behind tanks etc but then thats a hell of a lot of points.

i guess i just cant spam like i wanna

So put them into a Drop Pod and give them Combi weapons. This way you can still drop down behind your enemies line and keep the pack on the lower point end at the same time.

I love the combi weapon/Wolf Claw combo, it's great with a Wolf Priest. Then you can re-roll both hits and wounds!! Plus I think that the WP is a much over looked HQ in our codex.

End of Line

Well, the absolute most common load out for a WG in PA is combi-melta + p-fist for each GH pack that can support the added capacity. Otherwise, the best thing about a pack of WG is how you can literally gear each one differently, which grants plausible wound allocation potential. Combi-anything is very popular, and it's not uncommon to mix a pack of TDA WG with some in PA to help with the wound allocation.

The idea of a full pack of WG in jump packs, while a fun idea, is entirely impractical from a cost efficiency standpoint, and so is only done by people who love to spend money, or tend to proxy units, which basically mean they toss points cost to the wind, or magnetize their shoulderpads.

bolt pistol and CCW! and a couple ones with a combiweapon and PF/PW. these guys are only a little bit more expensive in points then bloodclaws but are easely 10 times better.they have the same amount of attacks on the charge, have +1WS/BS and in the following turns of mellee still have 3 attacks!
