Anti IG/TYRANID APOC

Recommended Posts

My buddy plays either a 2 baneblade with a few other assorted tanks and chimeras IG list or a pretty standard Tyranid list with no super heavys(yet!).

We usually play 2v2 with 2000 points each player but the other players play pretty random armies so no info there to work with. I was thinking a fun list that could deal with him would look something like this.

ThunderWolf Lord with Legion Relic Asset(double attacks at str 10) SS, Runic Armor, Talisman, Necklace, 2 wolves

Logan Grimnar

Bjorn with AC/HF

Thunderwolf CAV x5 Assorted upgrades(SS, TH, Mark etc.).

Long Fangs x5 MultiMelta, MeltaGun/MeltaBomb SL, Drop Pod

2 Grey Hunter Packs with MGx2, PF, PP, Mark, Standard, Rhino

Everything is tricked out and expensive but they are all my fav units and should be fun for Apoc! Any suggestions/tips/tactics for using this list effectively?

Against the IG list you mentioned you are severely understrength in my opinion- youve got almost nowhere to soak casualties. Is that really 2k?

Obviously youll want to target any squadrons of tanks the guy brings with your podding melta-fangs and Logan, and especially if hes using them to support his baneblade- get in close so he cant just hit you with that giant pieplate and split fire to try and shake a couple weapons too.

I really think if your podding in the Fangs you should pod in the hunters too- make a beachead out of it.

Do you have the models available to give Bjorn a Lucius pod? That would be excellent.

against the nids it depends on the build.... if it's shooty units with IB (instinct Behavior): Lurk, your target is the synapse creatures first; but if the majority are assaulty units with IB: Feed, then they're still gonna charge you weather synapse is there or not, so synapse is secondary concern, but still a concern.

target the low I units first with Jaws (carnifex, tervigon, tyranofex, hive guard... biovore?), then work your way from there by threat.

small units with good saves to tie up hordes, then hard hitting units to take out the not hordes while hordes are tied up.
