Grovsnus
so i am wondering if anyone adds storm bolters to their tanks and vehicles? I use them on my Vindicator. In my opinion a Vindicator with two is a mean infantry killing machine. I don't have my book with me but pretty sure a Vindi does not come with a SB anymore, you have to buy it and like all upgrades you can only buy it once. Someone with a book tell me if im right? Grey Mage
Nope, it comes with a SB in the SW codex atleast. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/248212-storm-bolters-on-vehicles/page/2/#findComment-3014542 Share on other sites
Karack Blackstone
After checking back with the main book, I will remember my mistake and learn from it. I also see that trusting opponents isn't as viable an option as I thought. Blacksad
as for HKM, it can be good, but you'd need to put them on every vehicle you field then, and you'd need enough vehicles... 1 HKM is useless. 10 HKM is a fairly good chance of wrecking all of your opponents vehicles turn one, thus worth the 100 points you spend on them. Freman Bloodglaive
I don't think I've ever played a game where having an extra storm bolter would have made a difference. I treat my Rhinos like a Wolf Guard Pack Leader that I can stick marines inside. Cheap and cheerful. MeatGrinder
As a point of note, the rhino bolters, if fired last, after all other shooting has failed, always kill something. Its like the unwritten law of chance. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/248212-storm-bolters-on-vehicles/page/2/#findComment-3015874 Share on other sites

Its like the unwritten law of chance. this is truth. i put as many of them in a list as possible. also it is one more weapon they have to destroy before they wreck your ride. Plague Tower of Nurgle
after playing mech Death Guard for years i can tell you that you want your Rhinos as cheap as possible. You want them to get your guys where they need to and thats it. If they manage to kill something, good for them. I consider them wargear rather than vehicles anyway. The stormbolter on the Vindi is nice if your demolisher cannon is taken out; however i dont think there would ever be a time i would use the storm bolter over the demolisher cannon. postal105
storm bolter due to its strength is considered a defensive weapon and can always fire at your target if it is in range for it. i have been known to hit a unit with my demolisher cannon and because the unit was in range also hit it with the storm bolter. Doesn't work that way. You can't fire Ordinance weapons and another weapon the same turn. If you fire the demolisher, you can't fire the stormbolter. WG Vrox
Depends on your list, Only time I bring the extra SB is when I running a take on all comers list and end up short on Dakka for taking on horde armies. In that case I will run a unit or 2 that has the 2nd SB on their Rhino and a WG inside with a SB/PF. 3 SB firing off in a turn is no small potatoes to horde/IG type armies. Once the Rhino delivers its payload and is still alive, the Rhino can becomes a nice run and gun vehicle. The other nice thing about having the extra SB is when you go up against lists such as Necrons or lists that have a lot of Str 5 weapons in their army where they end glancing the Rhino to death. Being able to loose another weapon before the Rhino explodes can be the difference of you troops getting to where they need to be and falling short and and getting torn about by 2 rounds of shooting. Sure this is somewhat on the rare side but again is an extra side benefit. Question, once the HK missile is launched is it still a targetable weapon system for weapon destroyed results?
