Vindicator Formation!

Thanks guys!

Muctar, I really like how you did the fist on Venerable Nal'zar, good job! The scorpion green is the first highight, on all edges, then I go over it with 3 highlights more ( add in more and more white, almost pure white at the end ) and go over the corners.

Can't wait for sunday when I'm back in town so I can work on these bad boys.

The question now is, what to put on the banner on the command tank!?

Suggestions??

I may just borrow that highlighting technique from you and use it on my next projects.

As for banner ideas perhaps you could have a black background with a flaming heavy support symbol (the stylized explosion one) with your chapter symbol in the foreground. Since your chapter is a Salamanders successor, I presume, does your symbol incorporate the drake's head in some way?

Alright! Back down south, and back at the brush. One vindi is finished, the other two only need black highlights and a dab of mithril on all rivets.

I think I'll put the "Show me a fortress, and I will show you a ruin" Quote on the next Vindi.. hmm.. mabe a murial of a half-destroyed stronghold with the quote on the side... hmm..

I am Legion, same principle, but instead of the eagle body you do a big blood drop, just some modifying the wings by going with the eagle style instead (that they point outwards, instead of inwards). Should be an awesome shieldwall!

Muctar, I don't really have a solid chapter symbol. As it is right now I just play around with drakes, skulls and eagles (and lots of fire) in my freehands. One of these days I'll sit down and come up with the mother of all symbols to me my chapter logo though.

Ended up putting "Invictus" on the banner of the command tank, as it is one of my favorite quotes, and I enjoy the irony of having "Unconquerable" on a unit of siege engines ;)

As you can see the green is VERY green, I use extreme highlighting, and by itself it looks a little too much like it's glowing. But once I slap the black highlights on there, it ties it all back down to reasonable levels.

Finished vindicator:

Hoping to finish another one tomorrow, and the last one on wednesday.

C&C greatly appreciated brothers!

That vindicator is sexy. Can a tank be sexy? I suppose with a roll of 5 it can be smoking.

Regardless, great job. I especially like the storm bolter - the highlights on that just slap you in the face. As Warped-Bitz said, very intimidating :)

Woo! Got a lot more done tonight than I thought I would, and by that I mean that they all got done!

Ended up playing a little more with GS, so now there's even more love in this formation.

Used some baneblade ammo for the shells, couldn't find the original, but I'm pretty sure these are of a size.

One is the shell just after it left the barrel, the fire from firing it just coming out, the other a shell just starting to clear the barrel, some smoke coming out with it. I'm sure there are a dozen things wrong about the smoke/fire compared to how it really would look, but I'm going with the GW/Hollywood approach: Cool instead of real!

So now we have what I like to call the 3 stages of "Oh :) "

Thanks a lot for all the feedback along the road guys, keep it coming! ;)

Cheers!

Gorgeous! Great execution of extreme highlighting. The freehand aquilla idea is extremely creative too -- too bad you really won't ever get to line them up like that in a game!

Also, I'm pretty impressed with the realism of your firing cannons... again, very well done!

Finally I think the restriction of your palette to green/orange and neutral colors really helped bring them all together.

Love it!

Thanks a lot brothers!

Jupiter; Your roman guys look great btw, love the crests on the helmets! As for being together, I'm sure there will be games, who needs cover when you have awesomeness :tu:

Muctar: GS is something you learn to work with, just like painting. And the only way to learn is to do! I constantly find new ways of doing things that are better, so get some GS and just play around with it, you will notice improvement as you go along :)
