Forgefather
I just got the Forge World newsletter and it announces that Forge World will be adding Skin Wolves to their arsenal. (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer/Warhammer_Monsters/SKIN-WOLVES.html for those who wanted to take a look). Anyway, how useful would these be for models such as Wulfen, or at least make up for a nice themed conversion? I'm sure the flayed skin is something that can be converted, covered in bits of armour or braids if necessary. I only wonder how big these guys are gonna be. How big are marines compared to the human? Any idea if these might just be -too- big for Wulfen models? Wulfebane
They were announced in another thread, but it was slightly buried, so deserving of their own thread considering they're wolves (meaning of course we claim dibs!) As for proxies, it was mentioned that one of them would make for an interesting Redmaw conversion. Another mention was using them for TWC, for those players that don't like a 2-ton marine riding a wolf bareback into battle. This version I would anticipate seeing more of, though personally, the new TWC sculpts are too sweet to pass up. Wolfsbane
I cannot see myself ever using them, they seem far too large to represent a normal wulfen in my opinion. More than likely I would never have a model in my army with more than some claws, extra beard, and some golden eyes. I'm not playing 13th company nor am I playing or ever plan on playing a Redmaw army list. I actually feel like these are great models for a game that has no need for them. I'd rather Forgeworld have spent their time filling in the model range for other codexes that are still missing models. Nrthstar
I can't see using these for any of our stuff in our current codex, but it makes me wish that we get crazy wulfen in the next edition. Vampire Count army models? I'm pretty warhammer illiterate. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/248248-skin-wolves/#findComment-3007531 Share on other sites
Herald of Ultramar
They're not for any particular army, I don't think. Rather, they're monsters you can use with any army in a Storm of Magic game. I'll probably be picking some up to use as Chaos Trolls in my Warriors of Chaos army. Innus Bade 9
Im going to use them for my lone wolf models. They will work perfectly with mark of the wolfen. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/248248-skin-wolves/#findComment-3026887 Share on other sites
Wulfebane
Im going to use them for my lone wolf models. They will work perfectly with mark of the wolfen. I can see basing being an issue for this. They barely fit on a large monster base, so even putting them on a 60mm termie base will be tough, but a regular 25mm base will be impossible. Since bases affect melee combat, I can easily see some conflict. They barely fit on a large monster base, so even putting them on a 60mm termie base will be tough, but a regular 25mm base will be impossible. Since bases affect melee combat, I can easily see some conflict. You could always model it so that there is a piece of terrain/tree trunk coming out of the base and having the skin wolf on that part. Would give the player more space to position the model without illegally altering the base and could make the model more dynamic and interesting. i had wanted to get this version of the skin wolves, but still debating on it. Durfast Spiritwolf
Im going to use them for my lone wolf models. They will work perfectly with mark of the wolfen. Only if you stretch the idea of Mark of the Wulfen, i.e. someone so-called for their ferocity in combat, into full Wulfen...
