As to "Primarchs", I've read a few spoilers, seems like there are some juicy bits, especially regarding Fulgrim and the Alpha Legion.

I'm really hoping that this book will be awesome and expand more on the brotherhood shared by the primarchs, although in the end I'm really hoping for some decent expansion of the primarchs we have already experienced, rather than trying to squeeze in the obligatory cameos from the ones we have not.

The book on Fulgrim is ok, it doesnt really portray him in a good light though to be honest. Makes him seem like an arogant child in a few ways.

To be fair, I think that's supposed to be the point. You look at the primarchs that side with Horus and most of them have real bad daddy issues.

I know what you mean, but despite their daddy issues they were all men of greatness at one point, Fulgrim bought a planet back from the brink of utter collapse in his youth so just because he cant impress the Emperor at every turn he acts like a teen of Jersey Shore.

Let's be realistic here. All of the primarchs who fell to Chaos were severely flawed. That's why they fell. It's going to be hard to show any of them in a positive light. Ultimately these guys are some of the biggest villains of the 40K universe. Good authors may be able to inflect some humanity or depth to them, but ultimately, they're all going to have succumbed to whatever flaw the Chaos Gods exploited to turn them.

Some of them are pretty one-dimensional dudes like Angron (Angry because he was lobotomized with an angry maker). Others have a bit of depth to them (Lorgar with his severe validation issues). But ultimately it's going to be hard to show any of them as good guys, or worthy of much respect because they aren't.

In the end I did actually feel sorry for Fulgrim, firstly for the Laeran artifact twisting him, and in many ways he was a brash and arrogant child but at the end of the day I think a lot of what happened to him is purely just down to his pride and wanting his father to be proud of him, which is something quite a lot of people suffer from in real life.

I thought he felt like he had to be perfect and work harder so that he could:

(1) Make his father proud/love him, and live up to the Emperors perfection, or what he thought were the Emperors expectations.

(2) Catch up with the other legions victory rolls as the Emperors Children were the last legion out of the terra gate (so to speak) after all their issues with their geneseed. (There were only 200 or so marines when he met his legion)

In a very weird way he almost seemed like a victim of circumstance, I mean if his legion had been ready when he arrived, we could have seen a very different Fulgrim.

I really like Fulgrim I think he's an interesting character and his novel is one of my faves so far. I'm really looking forward to the Primarchs novel I hope it does develop them alot. I agree though, most of the primarchs do come across as spoilt children, but I kinda like that. Probably due to the fact that they grew from infancy into adulthood so quickly they did not have time to develop and form grounded personalities and were thrown into turbulent worlds in which most achieved great things. Then a father figure turns up, tells them he is the Emperor of mankind, turns their world upside down, enlightens them on the "true " galaxy and tells them who they actually are. He then gives them a legion and tells them to come with him and conquer the Universe. That's got to effect anyone's personality!

In some regards I actually feel sorry for some of the fallen Primarchs, they obviously didn't posses the mental architecture needed to handle the role they had been given. The Emperor, their father, didn't care, they were just his tools, a means to his ends, which is basically how he treats everyone really. His "You will do what I tell you, because I tell you to" style takes no account of the feelings, desires and needs of his sons, such as Angron's honour and Lorgar's belief in the power of faith and the need to believe in something greater than himself. And yet his son's loved him. So I think the Emperor treats them appallingly and how he didn't see the HH coming I have no idea. He obviously was never a father to a group of real children or ever tried to really "manage" his group of headstrong, talented, inquisitive egos that he created. Maybe he just thought that they would just do what he told them for long enough to achieve his goals and before chaos got it's claws into them, despite all his bans and rules. With a huge universe as a playground and all the things to discover out there it's hardly surprising such powerful individuals would be tempted to rebel against their dogmatic, arrogant parent that would never truly return their love and devotion.

I really hope the upcoming novel delves deeper into these fantastic individuals and perhaps a little of the Emperor too.

Yeah i alread y read "Fulgrim" and i really enjoyed it i thought it showed a huge contrast between proud warriors/artists then they fall into these twisted emotion/sensation(pleasure) addicted maniacs.

The main reason i made this was because i wanted to see people's thoughts on this extract info i read but i cant find a link anymore..

Fulgrim(Daemon Possessed) defeats a Titan using warp powers... To be honest i am kinda giddy because im hoping that some of the books will start showing the Daemons true power

Im also excited to see other stoires about the other Primarchs i wanna read more details about the Khan haha B)

Im happy to see that im not the only Fulgrim Fan ;)
