All Terminator Force

Reading through various forums, I've read about the idea of a "LoganWing" using Logan and various wolf guard; however, most seem to suggest the use of PA WG along with TA WG. Is it viable to have a solely Terminator Armor based Logan Wing. I am not a competitive player, so I won't be in tournaments; however, I would like an army that isn't going to be completely pointless in playing.

I built, painted, played with and subsequently sold a Loganwing army. Here's what was in it. My win/loss was about 50/50 in multiple games. I can seriously fail some armor saves.

From memory:

Logan

4 WG- Terminators, TH/SS x2, WClaws x2, Pod

5 WG- Terminators, TH/SS x2, Combi-Melta x2, Assault Cannon/SS/MotW, Pod

5 WG- Terminators, TH/SS x2, Combi-Melta x2, Assault Cannon/SS/MotW, Pod

5 WG- Terminators, TH/SS x2, Combi-Melta x2, Assault Cannon/SS/MotW, Pod

5 Long Fangs- Heavy Bolter x2, Lascannon x2, Pod

5 Wolf Scouts- Melta Gun

The army looked cool, was super fun, and was rock solid. I say go for it. Do what you want!

Until recently I have been running just that, an all TDA army (well, plus some Long Fangs...). It's easy to do, hard to pilot, and always loads of fun to play!! Just remember that your base troops cost 33 points each, and they still only have one wound. Keep to cover, and use long range fire power to provide them with the support they need.

End of Line

I also play logan wing, but terminator only, with 2 or 3 landraiders, or a combination of 1 landraider and 2 droppod, or 2 landraiders and 1 droppod, with a terminator runepriest.

Lot os fun to play, but I only got 17 minis in play. I also play tournaments with it, sometimes I lost a game, sometimes I win, most of the time a draw.

Terminator armies are great fun, wether playing with them, or against them - and you could definately field a logan wolfwing army successfully, mainly due to the high number of wargear options the wolf guard get

@dewi sant -

a hard question to answer as it depends how you want to play them,

if you want to take land raiders, then squads armed up with combi weapons and a combination of claws and fists coming out of those raiders are horrific.

if your drop podding you may want a similar setup but add in some CML, and more storm shields to soak up return fire (as you cant assault out of a drop pod)

if footslogging, then you need some longer range firepower, so lots of CML and a few assault cannons may come in handy

my housemate runs a deathwing army with a couple of storm shields in each squad to soak up AP2 wounds

I also play logan wing, but terminator only, with 2 or 3 landraiders, or a combination of 1 landraider and 2 droppod, or 2 landraiders and 1 droppod, with a terminator runepriest.

This is what I would like to do. terminator armored WG only in land raiders. Add in some terminator armored HQ. Sounds like I got some buying to do.

The problem with Land Raiders in this kind of army is they keep you out of low points matches. I mean Logan himself cost 25 point MORE than the LR!! I only run them at 2K and up (which I never get to play -_-) because your troops cost so much. I prefer to footslog my termis, and on occasion I will drop pod them in. Then new Fenrisian Wolves offer us a great inexpensive 4+ cover save for our expensive slow troops. I have been liking this tactic quite a lot recently.

Dewi, this is my usual load out for a five man pack (on foot or in pod):

SB/PW/CML

SB/PF

SS/WC

CM/WC

and either CP/WC or if low on points SB/PW ( I like having one 'dork' in case of ID on some other misfortune)

If I end up using a LR I switch out the CML will an AC, and everybody get WC and hangs tough with my TDAWP.

End of Line

While I'm still relatively new to Wolves (especially compared to some of the brothers here) running an all tda army was what drew me to them. In my current position,I play almost exclusively small games, as the few battles I do get are with new players using one of my armies. I wont comment on tactical ability or competitiveness of the force, but I will say it's extremely fun to play, and at smaller points Logan is basically a deathstar on his own.

That and an all terminator force looks as badass as it is intimidating.

Have fun with it, SW models have a lot of character as it is, terminators more so.

Althought they are nice list, the lack all the body. I got enough firepower, but most of the times I'm overnumberd by other armies. Also when you lost one 1 landraider, the terminators must footslogging to the enemy. And because I dont use stormshields on most list the can lose their saves soon.

Recent I als make list with more combiweapons, like combimeltas on the wolfgaurd with a cyclone missile launcher /assault cannon and 1 stormshield.

If you want more list, pm me and I email you some list I use for fun play and tournament.

Slightly rezzing this thread, sorry. I've been keen on a True Scale project for a while, but wanting to have them play to the same level, that of a super elite force who can weather masses of fire and dish out obscene amounts of pain, as per the fluff. Standard marines just don't cut it in games terms in my opinion, so I'm looking at doing a True Scale list (1500 to start) using a LoganWing list for rules, so effectively my true scale marines will play as terminators.

I'm curious if anyone else has done this? My standard five man squad would be:

WG with TDA, Chainfist and Storm Bolter (Sergeant with Chainsword and bolter)

WG with TDA, Cyclone Missile Launcher, Storm Bolter & Frost blade (Marine with missile launcher, bolter & Combat knife)

3 x WG with TDA, Storm Bolter & Frost blade (Marine with bolter & Combat knife)

Drop Pod

Scale the number of squads according to the size of the game, and throw in some scouts and wolves for good measure.

So, not a terribly common set up from what I've seen, and possibly not the most competitive, but it feels fluffy.

Cadarn: The Frost blades are nice, but not that good for a pack like this. For the points, I would recommend the Wolf Claw for it's re-rolly goodness. You still get the fluff aspect, but they help out a lot in combat and for only five points!! And speaking of five points, I heard that combi weapons where also only five points, and that's not even the 'on sale' price!! :tu:

Other than that, the packs looks good to me.
