Space Wolf Army

Recommended Posts

Ulfred had been trodding through the blizzard for days after throwing the Axe Morkai over the cliff near the Fang. The Great Wolf assigned him this small penitent quest instead of severe punishment because he can take a joke every couple centuries or so. The only rule is that the "penitent" must wear tactical dreadnought armor until he returns.

As his companions howled into the air to distant feral fenrisian wolves, the Lone Wolf squinted off into the distance. A great unearthly purple light shone through the ice. His eyes grew wide and he gripped his frost axe. The Axe Morkai would have to wait. Grimnar would understand. Does he even know The Enemy is on Fenris? The Space Wolf turned on his heel and trodded relentlessly back to the fang.

It's likely the attack would begin before he returned to the Den and that he would be caught out in the open amidst the terrible storm. A fitting end to an old wolf's saga.

He vowed that his frost axe would at least taste traitor blood once more before the end.

What do you think? :D

*Gasp* Wolves? Vlka Fenryka?!? Made by Ah-a? Christ, I think I just had a mild heart attack!

Despite my shock, they are looking very nice. The facepaint helps them stand out, and the blood looks fan-freakin-tastic.

On a more critical note, watch out for those pesky mould lines, they're sneaking up on you. Also, careful with the snow on the actual mini's (not the bases, they look fine), sometimes less is more.

Of course, you would have already known all of this if you hadn't betrayed your Legio, Daughter of Magnus.... :D

Gahhhh mold lines! >.<

Thanks, you two.

I'll take your advice 1k, because I definitely intend to expand this army. Maybekindasortaperhapsdefinitely. Let's just say some serious mistakes were made with the snow and I just went with it. I should have waited til I wasn't sneezing, but I just couldn't help myself today. ^.~

I wanted the Lone Wolf to be peppered, for sure.

As wonderfully painted as they are, It would be my recommendation to line them up, and turn the same Desert Eagle pictured in your WIP thread that those horrid wolves used to torture your unfortunate Thousand Sons Sorcerer on them. Just make sure it's loaded.. Oh the Irony!

Beautifully painted! Nice quick job by the looks of it too.

Do you just basecoat and wash?

I've been considering it because I can't paint to save my life, and if you do, it just goes to show how effective it really is.

Kudos!

Here you go, brother: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...showarticle=298

;)

Make sure that you use black ink. I am using watered down Chaos Black paint as substitute because I am too lazy to go pick some proper ink up. Ensure that you follow directions in the tutorial (like I should have). I bet yours will look even better than mine since, I admit, I rush all of my projects to completion.

Very nice stuff there! Simple, however excellently executed and with great results, I like that. The gore looks really good, I must say. ;)

The only thing that looks a bit funny is the snow on the actual model; especially Arjac looks like he got all angry over a lost snowball fight. ;)

Good job, keep it up! ;)

Snorri

Great looking stuff there Ah-a ! Love the snow effects and the short story to introduce them. Despite everyones surprise at you starting up Wolves, your two armies will look great facing off in your display case... If you have one... :) Very Nice

Thanks everyone. I actually don't have a display case but I have every intention on purchasing one soon.. With lights, even!

chaptermasters, I ended up putting 'ard coat gloss on the snow before sealing everything with Testers spray coat.

I'll be sure to post a cool picture of everything in a pose.

Darker grey is the pre-heresy scheme, according to the original IA article, so it's been around for a while. As far as I'm concerned the standard SW scheme has been in need of an update, much like the one the Ultras recieved in 4th ed with the gold shoulder trims and the darker blue.
