Space Wolves army for GT: Wolf Guard

Hi all,

Next 17th and 18th March I'm going to a GT with my old wolves. I'm just re-modelling and re-painting all my army, I've chosen the best moment to do it.

I have not too much time to do the work, I was painting at a good level but I was lowering in every model as the GT date aproaches :)

To achieve it quickly I'm painting base color and rust scratches.

Just painted with the first base color scratches over the yellow:

Grey base color scratches:

Rust/Primer scratches:

Very light oils over the tank and almost done tracks:

I'm going to post more advances. The thing is to paint all my army at 80% that is ok to play. If I done all at 80% and I have some time before the GT I'm going to paint some units at 100%

Regards

Javi

PD. Photos taken with my phone, sorry :(

I did the scratches just painting. No salt, lacquer or other methodes, I have no much time :D

As a quick tutorial, you need a sponge, take paint with it, dry with a paper napkin and chip the tank. After that I like to paint and define chips and scratches with a brush (as you can see in the 3rd photo).

In this Rhino, I've chipped with a lighter base color (adding bleached bone for the yellow and space wolves grey for the shadow grey mix).

Over the light chips, I put the rust. I mix the paint every time I paint without an exact mixing recipe. I like to add some randomness to my painting job.

Finally I check and finish some chips with the brush again.

Amazing. Any chance of some close ups of the weathering?

When I finish my army I'll take some "good" pictures, with some closeups. :o

More on my army. Rune Priest:

Second step (almost done):

I'm now re-painting my LandSpeeders...

i have got to know how you are doing your glow effects! the runes and eyes are amazing!

Hi Matt,

This was my first attempt to do this, so It's easier that it seems:

Paint the eyes/runes with some dark blue, without care :P

Mix a blue like Enchanted blue with some Ice blue (not white because it can de-saturate the mix) and dilute the mix with water.

Paint outside the eyes/runes in some layers, the paint is semi-transparent so you'll need to paint it in several rounds.

Paint inside the eyes/runes with pure white.

I'll sculpt some runes on the RP shoulderpads and I'll make the same effect. This is the next step.

this sounds super easy! i am going to giv it a go as soon as the weather lets me prime again. thanks!

I'm liking the look of that priest, but will you really spend the points to equip him with a stormbolter? I normally just give him a bolt pistol myself.

Yes, but this is the 2nd one and we must to equip different...

...and I have 3 points and I like how the SB looks :D
