henrywalker
So i'm in the middle of painting an albino thunderwolf and i thought id get some feedback to see if you guys think i'm doing the right thing. I started basecoating it spacewolves grey. then a very watered down badab black wash then and extremely watered down wash of baal red. thats where am so far. I'm planning to the over brush with space wolves grey and then do a series of dry brushes with SW grey/skull white mixes up until pure white. I will only go all the way to white on the haunches and head and similar areas in order to get some depth. I'm still not sure it will have enough depth, of course its not easy highlighting white. any thoughts? maverik_girl
pictures of your WIP/PIP would help! this reminds me of 'ghost' the dire wolf from Game of Thrones. Cool idea btw! henrywalker
here you go edit: why is it upside down?! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/248727-albino-thunderwolf/#findComment-3011818 Share on other sites
postal105
the way i would have attacked it is by using a wash of ogryn flesh then on top of that the devlan mud wash and then after that dried go back and highlight where needed the base coat i would have started with is skull white but that is how i would have done it. but there are 100 was to achieve the same look. Matt D
i like where its going but i think it needs a bit more definition. maybe another wash or two before dry brushing. Wulfebane
I'd wash it with watered down elf flesh and drybrush with bleached bone, saving the white for the underbelly areas. he_plays_guitar
Make sure to paint the skin around the eyes pink, as well as the inside of the ears and anywhere on the ears that skin would show through. Also pink on the paws and "toes" and maybe do some pink showing through on his joints, like the "knees" of his legs. Also his nose should be pink and the front part of the snout should be pinkish. I had an albino husky and that's what she looked like. When you say pink, I think you should maybe discourage the use of "tentacle pink" Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/248727-albino-thunderwolf/#findComment-3012105 Share on other sites

Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
I still have two pots of it!! ;) I am officially stealing the gold/bronze cybernetic limbs idea. I too am having a bit of difficulty getting a white wolf, rather than a grey wolf with white highlights. My first attempt ended up becoming a mix of browns and greys. Looks good, but not the desired out come I was looking for... Good luck!! Thunderhawk3015
Funnily enough I'm in the middle of planning this out myself. I'm following a slightly different line for the white. Prime Black. Basecoat: Astronomican Grey. Wash: Badab Black/Devlin Mud(tbd, I'm testing that out on a couple Fenresian wolves later today. Drybrush: Astronomican Grey Drybrush: Astronomican Grey/Skull White(I can't tell you the proportions, I just know the final color before applying is an off white) Light Drybrush: Skull White (I'm planning on doing this stage against the grain of the fur so it only hits the higher points.) Enjoy. I'll get pictures up when that gets done but I've got 30 more marines and their rides to paint first.
