Jaredbleu
HQ: wolf lord wolf priest Elites: Wolf scouts 5 with snipers Troops: 8Grey Hunters w/ wolf guard and wolf lord Drop pod 8Grey Hunters w/ wolf guard and wolf priest Drop pod 9Grey Hunters w/ wolf guard Drop pod I was looking to find a thousand point set up that works well with what i already have(Space Wolves Battleforce and a pack of ten tactical marines) and is the same as every other guy out there but can still win. Not uber competitive. Any input is appreciated Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/248738-drop-pod-wolves-army/ Share on other sites
Wulfebane
You're not gunna have much on the table the first couple turns. All you will have is a single drop pod of Hunters and maaaybe a pack of scouts if you opt not to OBEL. Which will mean the first turn or so, your first pack will be shot to hell by their gunline and you can't charge out of a drop pod, so there goes the potential to avoid fire by diving into melee. You need to readjust your deployment to give your opponent more than one option to divide his attention with. Wysten
Well, he will have two droppods down turn one, since he has 3 of them, so he will have decent pressence. Just lacking in the tradictional supportive units, such as landspeeders and Long Fangs. If he uses one of the pods as a empty pod and deploy the other guys on foot. Only issue is you have 30 power armour plus scouts on the ground, but must be within 12 range or combat to be effective. Could work. I would change the scouts to be melee guys though, since melta is highly disruptive otherwise long fangs can do their job better. Wulfebane
You didn't mention the load out, so I dunno how much melt a you have per squad, but regardless, you're gunna be hurting against armored armies. Thunderhawk3015
If your going to melta out your two drop pods that are showing up turn one then that would work. I'd suggest dropping the snipers and throwing a meltagun/bombs on the scouts and have them OBEL in behind your opponent because with the prevalence of armor those snipers are going to be next to worthless imo. Simo429
Take either the lord or the priest not both. Sniper scouts really aren't great. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/248738-drop-pod-wolves-army/#findComment-3012291 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
Yeah... Youd be better of taking OBEL scouts with a melta to force your opponent in from his own table edge. And definitely only one HQ at this point. Youre strapped for points at 1k, and I dont think we can afford to bring 300pts of HQ in and still be competitive- those points could go alot of places that would be more killy.
