Hi there,

It's been a loong time I haven't been posting here.

This time, It's to show you a full scratch drop pod for my IronClad Dread.

First, I made a wing that I molded to realize the 2 others.

Here is the master and a molding :

Then, the motor block was made using toothpaste cover, straws, foamboard, ...

And the weapon was magnetized to allow weapon change :

The base was made from 1,5mm plasticard :

Once glued together, we've got that :

With a Dread inside to show scale :

Then, I worked on the doors that I want to open. So, I made a hinge realized from various diameter pipes :

The biggest tube can freely roll around other ones.

With the door on (not glued yet), here is a view with door closed :

And another with the door opened :

Next steps : reinforce the hinge, make finishing works on the door and make the 2 other ones.

Hope you enjoy.

I came in here not quite knowing what to expect and found an extremely professional looking model. For a scratch build that looks fantastic, if it had been painted when yo uposted the picture I would have never guessed that it wasn't a FW model. Love the detailing on the thruster as well.

Superb work. :)

Thanks for these comments.

For those of you who are interested in building one, I found the plans in the Yahoo group "bwc archive".

Plans for the wings and base are OK but the doors has been remade because they were ugly.

By the way, here is a little video of the pod to how how it works :

I knew my voice was not as smooth as Georges Clonney's but I didn't think it was going to make you flee all ;)

By the way, the last thing that was missing on that pod - The thermal shield on the base - is now done and the white primmer is on.

Oh, and here is a little color scheme test made with Gimp :

These are not the real colors. Check my blog (as a link in my signature) to see real colors (from page 3. Before, images are dead).

Dark brown on the image will be same color as the terminators.

Now, masks and aerograph painting.
