UltraWorldWolves
So I will just keep editing this first post instead of doing new posts in terms of drafts. I hope you like it. "Victory is worthless unless your preys head is taken" Teachings of Grellic, Sky Lord of War Tribe Fire Rain "From Dusk We Strike! Till Dawn We Stay!" Battle Cry At The Defense Of The Valhallan Outpost 'Glaciel Fury' Origins The Emperor's Pride chapter were formulated during the 21st founding in late M36 and are one of the chapters to have suffered severe mutations in the gene seed most notably the predatory eyes and feline like front teeth. The theory behind the Emperor's Pride's creation is that at the time the Ultima Segmentum was under constant attack by the Orks and was getting increasingly challenging for the Imperial Guard regiments stationed there so in response the Emperor's Pride was created. As they are a young chapter they are eager to prove themselves but have been set back by many unfortunate events like the inquisitions investigation to determine whether they retain spiritual purity despite their mutations. Another event was the evolved predator Quallu a breed of fishlike humanoid that evolved from an innocent fish to the monstrous being it is now. This creature kills children that get too close. There simply was not enough hunters in the prides to kill the Quallu, hunt for food, and teach the surviving boys how to hunt. In response the Heaven Lord himself (See Organization) and other hand picked marines went on a mass hunt. This lasted for 3 Terran years until finally the Heaven Lord and his retinue returned draped in the skin of slain Quallu. Homeworld Their homeworld, Kolarden, is based in the Ultima Segmentum part of the galaxy. Kolarden is an ancient marsh world dating back to the years of the Great Crusade. This marsh world is enveloped by swamps hundreds of miles wide while the little land that their is is inhabitated by people who believe in the art of hunting animals. Skining the fur off the body of ones first kill and then adorning it with tokens of fallen beasts to landmark an event. This is reflected in the chapter for a chosen boy to become a full space marine he has to hunt and kill a a giant predatory cat called a Leonine closely resembling the majestic lion of ancient terra. In that they are heavily featured in hunting and that if you cannot hunt for yourself then you are just another mouth to feed. So the only requirement for a boy to be chosen is that he needs to know how to hunt. This is why there recruitment is slow as most young children on Kolarden cannot hunt. But this is also why their initiates have the best training there can be in the art of war. Combat Doctrine They follow the codex Astartes just in their own interpretation. They take with them from their life before their rise to space marine the art of the hunt. They learn and improve upon their ability to track and identify xenos creatures.Whence they find their prey they fight in a style of controlled fury knowing when and where they should strike. They are learned in letting their prey not know when they are there. Being that these are their preferred styles of warfare their main strategy of war is stalk the prey, isolate from the group, then pounce and kill. There War Prides(see below)are very diverse in the style of hunting as there respective Sky Lord(see below) teaches them their original tribes style of hunt. Organization They are codex adherent except that they are split into War Prides instead of companies, Sky Lords instead of captains, Fire Seers instead of librarians, and finally the Heaven Lord instead of a chapter master. These are mainly just titles but are deep in meaning in that the holding of memories is most sacred and to abandon your old tribe to be put into a War Tribe is the highest of honors so a Emperors Pride marine is never without a tribe. Also the name changes of their offices is also integrated into the tribal system before their ris to space marine. Whence an initiate passes their tests they and one other are bonded in a sharing of blood ritual the pair then are sworn into a War Pride by sharing blood with their Sky Lord. There can never be a new Sky Lord chosen outside of the War Pride and never can one be moved to a different War Pride. The Emperor's Pride have no scouts and instead train an initiate for longer periods of time compared to other chapters. Surprisingly the Emperors Pride seem to disdain the non-archaic equipment like the Mk7 Aquila armour. The armour they tend to use more is the Mk2 Crusade, the Mk3 Iron, and the Mk4 Maximus armour types. They tend to favor the Phobos pattern bolter and the Umbra pattern bolter. The way that they get these shipments is all due to their superstitions. They never accept a piece of equipment without first sending it to the Adeptus Mechanicus. As this is the case the Adeptus Mechanicus sends shipments replacing the Aquila armour and standard bolters with the more archaic mark armours and bolter patterns. Beliefs They believe in the holding of memories. As Guilliman taught his Ultramarines 'Information is victory' and so without memory there can be no information and information is needed to hunt. They believe to betray ones faith and brothers is the worst of all wrong doings. The Emperor's Pride hold their faith in the emperor as they believe the Emperor showed them that without faith in him there is no reason to live for him. This supposed vision is claimed to have happened when during late M37there was a massive amount of traitors in the ranks. When the Heaven Lord learned of this he burned all of the traitors at the stake and recorded their screams so they would never forget this heresy. Since then there have been no heretics within their ranks and have deemed anyone loyal to the Emperor worthy of their notice. The Emperor's Pride are highly superstitious so they always have with them at least one Fire Seer so they may keep back the daemons of the warp and sift through the warp to decipher the next major event as they are highly skilled and accurate in their predictions. Of course the Fire Seers have their Apprentice nearby as this is the 41st millennium and even they are not immortal. Gene Seed Ato rumors the Emperor's Pride are most likely descended from the Raven Guard. It is also rumored that the Emperors Pride were mixed with Ultramarine gene seed to better the stability of the Raven Guard gene seed while also improving speed, strength, and group loyalty. Unfortunately all records have been lost as to where there gene seed originated from. Although they do not know of their gene heritage they believe in the rumors and take pride in being sons of Guilliman and Corax. Of course nobody really knows the truth. Battle Cry Before the battle is begun the Emperor's Pride choose to enter mass prayer to the emperor that there quarry might be killed and that if they fall that day that he might visit upon them before there passing. There battle crys are completely spur of the moment and are never repeated (examples can be seen at the top). UltraWorldWolves
I like the new color scheme. Definitely reminds me of lions. Yeah that is what I was going for. Someone suggested that I paint the top part of the helmet a different color that the face part so it would resemble a lion mane. Captain Juan Juarez
Why the name-dropping of the Valhallans? Unless your Chapter is particularly humanitarian, such as the Salamanders, then I can't see them caring much that they've fought with the Valhallan Regiments more than others; they're just more weak Humans. Dosjetka
Why the name-dropping of the Valhallans? Unless your Chapter is particularly humanitarian, such as the Salamanders, then I can't see them caring much that they've fought with the Valhallan Regiments more than others; they're just more weak Humans. To pick up on this, it's always better to pick up the name of a less well-known Regiment if you really need to, but I agree, it doesn't really add that much to the Chapter. Unless it's a turning point for the Chapter? Â I'll go through this sometime soon and give some better criticism, if I can ;) Â Ludovic Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/248844-index-atartes-emperors-pride/#findComment-3014135 Share on other sites
UltraWorldWolves
Well concerning the Vallhallans. There homeplanet and my chapters are both in the Ultima Segmentum. I think what I will put in there is that anybody who loyaly serves the Emperor is worthy of their notice.
