twopounder
So, I've been running a section about rounded surfaces on my blog. I've been playing with shoulder pad ideas, and I'm trying to find a quick way to do 3d text. So far I can chop it up and manually align it: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v396/GunMonkey/3d%20Prints/Imperatus1.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v396/GunMonkey/3d%20Prints/Imperatus2.png It currently says Imperatus in a gothic font, but I think once I get it sorted out, I can make it say anything rather quickly, including character names. In fact, if I figure out the text deal, I can print names pretty much any where. What do you guys think? Too gaudy? The letters don't look good because I had to manually align them. Don the Oiler
Nice. Look for Chris Fullmer's "Shape Bender" plugin. It's a little tricky to handle, but it makes things much easier.
twopounder
Good call, Don. Took me a few minutes to figure out, and it's not a perfect solution, but a pretty durn close one: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v396/GunMonkey/3d%20Prints/imperatus3.png Shaves about 90% of the time off of doing that. twopounder
I still need to order a set to make certain they actually fit the way I expect them to. The math works out, but I need to make certain they don't cost a fortune and the printing process doesn't cause unexpected problems. But as soon as I'm confident they'll print okay, I'm more than happy to take requests :)
Kierdale
Combi-bolter kits and now custom shoulder-pads? Impressive, Twopounder, most impressive! It looks good. I'm interested to see what a physical sample looks like.
twopounder
I'm still working on the shoulder pads. I just spotted a problem with my initial design, in that the border around the shoulder pad is at an angle. I'm trying to come up with a creative way to fix it. My blog has more details, but the solution has remained elusive so far. I think I know how to fix it, and I'll give it a shot tomorrow. Hopefully it works ^_^
