Rune Priest Question

I'm planning on running Njal and 3 rune priests against my friends GK army he replies on Psi powers mainly.

My question is do all 4 priests make a roll if the GK pass Ld test to use any powers if all are within 24 or is it 1 roll for all?

Cheers

I'm pretty sure this answer comes from the SW FAQ, but you only get to try once for a Runic Weapon to cancel an enemy power, regardless of how many are in range. So, if Njal is one of the Priests in range of the enemy caster, you'll want to use him, since he cancels on a 3+, vice a 4+ like the rest.

Yeah I just checked the FAQ ;( worth a shot

where on the faq does it say only one can do it? I don't see it on the SW faq anywhere

Page 36 – Runic Weapon,

Replace the fourth sentence with “Furthermore,

whenever an enemy model succeeds on a Psychic test

within 24" of one or more models with a Runic

Weapon, roll a dice […]”

Which version of Njal are you planning on running? While the TDA version gets at 4+/+ save the PA version is easier to hide in a unit of Hunters in a Rhino and in said armor dump on wheels he can sit there and bust out all his nastiness from the top hatch.

All PA priests hiding in razors/rhinos with hunters to extend the range of their power

Not quite like he can.

Okay while the arguments against him are many and quite persuasive, there are a few things to remember. First off is the simple fact he has then entire list of the Wolves Psychic Powers available to him.... pick and choose what suits you best in that circumstance. Second he is a definite boost to the combat prowess of the unit that you attach him to. Pesky genestealers about to munch on you...not really with Tempest Wrath and either Living Lightning of Fury of the Wolf Spirits. Pesky deep striking Blood Angels/Grey Knights/Demons/Dark Eldar/or any other pain in the tookus troops giving you a headache, hello tempest wrath and a shooting power to flavor. And then there is the highly overlooked Thunder Clap... If you live in an Imperial Guard heavy FLGS like I do, then they should have come to fear this power. Recently I got it off against a guy who had made the mistake of massing up his troops to form one massive unit and Njal wiped out 10 troopers in one go... then proceeded to beat down another 4 and after the Grey Hunters went that unfortunate unit got ran down...oopsie. Then there is his leadership and the 5+/+ cover save for a rhino every turn.... and you can go on and on and on ad infinitum ad nasuem....

Down side: you can buy 2 decently decked out Rune Priests with what you pay for him. Blah blah blah blah blabbity blah blah

My dice love him, I do well with him in my army.... NEXT!!

I think there would be a decent argument that it does not say you can only try with one model as nowhere is that actually specified that you many only role for one rune priest, so really it would be down to how you interpreted that rule as to how you would play with it

But adding on the dex sentence "of the bearer" that has been changed to "one or more models" it kinda sways towards 1 roll ;( but right how you read them as well.

Did I mention ALL my priests will have JAWS as well using the other powers (not doubling up) I can pretty much shut down 1 side of the table to him so he cant jump or deep strike units (that's the plan anyway) and force him to come at me where my fangs can have a field day while my priest snipe away with JAWS etc

another useful power you should use in the one that makes a unit count as moving through difficult terrain cause ideally you will want to keep all the squads from assaulting you until their strength has been whittled down nicely, so your grey hunters ext can pick them off
