deathwing and chain fists

so I've gotten more termies coming in and I swear I'm stopping after this group comes in.

at the moment I've got:

9 SB/PF, 3 AC/PF, and 3 with PS/SB. (1 standard and 1 apothecary) (3 squads)

15 termies with TH/SS

15 termies with LCs

my question is with the 2 squads I've got coming in, I'm planing make them all shooty also, how many

chain fists would be good?

I'm looking at running maybe the 3 AC's and all the other squads with CML's or maybe even all them with it.

for a normal game I'd probly run 5x shooty squads, 3 preds, 3 typhoons, and balial.

With what you've got I'd give them all a chainfist. Run the squads as either 2xth/ss, 1xth/ss+cml, 2xsb/pf OR sub in chainfist for the pf if you have the spare points. Your list +banner apoth and 5 chainfists is what I run at 2k. It does really well against most tournament list and just brutalizes most casual lists.

Im the guy with almost 200 DW so I would say that CF's are good at a 1-50 ratio.

I say this for a reason, many years ago I put one on every DW Sqd I had (six at the time) and through the course of years playing, I don't know how many games (10 years), I can only remember twice that the CF was used. So think about how, when, where, and why the CF will be valuable.

Against a Fex they are worthless because the Fex has W. Getting into CC with a Vehicle is not that common unless it is a CC vehicle (Dreads). Titans in Apoc, or your just fortunate enough to be driving by in your LR and can jump out and smash something.

Now, the up side is that it is only X points, so if possible put one on every squad that is not CC oriented, since they are so cheap take them in any squad you can, you'll never know when they will be useful. I currently have 50% of my DW Sqds fitted w/CF's.

Speaking of useful, always support your DW, never leave one Sqd alone... For too long,,,

1 per squad, if points allow. They are the thing I use for points shaving.

Having a chainfist makes me very comfortable when:

- dreadnoughts show up. S8 is great and all, but the extra dice helps to gurantee the penetrating hit

- furioso, death company dreads, ironclads, soulgrinders, defilers. If I get stuck in combat with one of these, the chainfist is a godsend

- land raiders. Can't have melta everywhere. chainfists are a nice alternative

- wound allocation. extra wound group never hurts.
