Getting GK Terminators in trade

Hello,

I am getting (20) GK Terminators and (2) Land Raider Crusaders to start a GK army. I am seriously leaning towards Draigowing and Paladins because 4x Psycannons makes me smile. I have ordered a Finecast Draigo and a Finecast Librarian in TDA. Would you go with wound allocation paladins and a couple of ICs to round this out, or what else would you purchase to make this a fully viable list? I am brand new to GK.

Best,

Paul

depends on what points you are playing at.

at 1500 points, I take draigo, 15 paladins, and a 260 point dreadknight. I rarely use a landraider for them, as their shooting is pretty good, and you cant shoot from inside a landraider. Footslogging is quite slow, but as long as you deploy aggressively it can work, and I have a pretty decent ratio with my Draigo wing :D

My other issue with a landraider is that you need to break up a squad to fit them in. Draigo + 10 paladins is a really tough squad to deal with, and when ever I combat squad the 10man they aren't as tough, due to less models.

Okay then,

Let's take the LRCs out of the picture. Two 10 man paladin units are like almost 800pts each with another 400pts in ICs is a 2000pts list. Is this a bad thing?

I would probably build NDKs into the list as well. The LRCs can go into my Deathwing for all I care.

15 paladins is the bare minimum I would want, at 1500-2000.

A libby is good, but I took mine out as he worked too well (I have never even used him against my friend who plays nids, as that would just be mean). I quite like dreadknights, and used 2 in a 1750 point list I took to 2 tournaments (one was a 20 player one, the other was uk thone of skulls october). DK's lack a certain something, but I love mine and wouldn't want to replace it with anything :P

For me at 2000 I would probably bring Draigo, 15 pallies, 2 shunting dks, inquisitor with psycannon and a psyrifle dread (not a huge fan of psyrifle dreads, but I'd want one for 2000 points).

Draigo

Libby

15 paladins

is about 1450-1500 points, depending on MC's and how pimped you wanna make the liby. 500 points can be quite a few things. could probably even fit in 2 landraider crusaders (at a stretch).

Eh, it sounds like you just want a Draigowing list. Which is fine, it's just not very original or interesting. You roll the Deathblob up the table, you vapourise everything that gets within 24" or tries to assault you. Do a quick Google search, it'll turn up a dozen takes on the same template. It ends up being usually along the lines of;

HQ:

Da Boss

Librarian

Elites:

.......

Troops:

Deathblob

Deathblob

Heavy:

PsyDreads, because otherwise you have no reach (although expect them to get targeted down very quickly)

Dreadknight (sometimes mutually exclusive with PsyDreads in smaller games, but in larger games you can field both)

As a side note, you can field Terminator blobs for cheaper who are not as devastating but don't force you into Draigowing. This is the standard copy I field;

Justicar w/hammer, Terminator w/Bro Banner, Terminator w/hammer, 2 x Terminators w/halberd+psycannon,

5 x Terminators w/halberds

(475 points)

That build works in Henchmen armies, in pure Knights and in hybrid. Below 2k however, I opt for the Paladin combat squad. It's a more points-efficient meatshield and it still has the wounds and psycannon output of the Terminator blob;

Paladin w/hammer, 2 x Paladins w/halberd+psycannon, 2 x Paladins w/halberds

(315 points)

The majority of the summer tourneys in my area are 1850. I am seriously considering (2) 10 man Paladin Units Wound Allocated Out and Draigo as my list. The way I would kit it I could easily fit MasterCrafting on all my Psycannons and still have some points left over.

Is this too little for 1850?

Nope. Draigowing still hasn't found it's hard counter yet, you will stomp a lot of people with that build. If you can squeeze in a PsyDread, it could be nice, but it's not essential. 20 Paladins with max psycannon, Banners and wound-allocated out are very daunting to most players.

The only problem I have with Draigo and 20 pallies, is that you lack speed and reach, apart from deepstrike (its also quite boring to use).

They are hard to counter, and should win any kill point game, but a smart opponent can play well to beat you ar objective games. It's why i being a shunting dk with my force (I also greatly dislike Psyrifle dreads, too cheaply costed for me and I like my army to have a weakness I'm aware of).

There are many more options then Draigo and 20 pallies, at the least an inquisitor with servo skulls would help control enemy infiltrators/scout moves, and help with deepstrike.
