VonMerrick
Hi, Just started working on my wolves which is the first full army project I've had in over two years. I've started on a rhino to test out what I want. I'd like opinions as I'm deliberately going for a worn look on the rhino, but can't help feel odd leaving it "messy" to me as my last army was Crimson Fists and their stuff has very crisp lines. Basecoated in Adeptus Battlegrey, Washed in Black, Built up with Codex Grey then slightly brushed with Fortress Grey. Want my wolves less blue, but not as dark as straigh battlegrey. Kinda has a blue tint to it which I do like. Still need to add Ragnar's Great Company ( symbols from the land speeders) to the recessed area on the front of the sides. Also looking for ways to add pack markings to red hatch door. http://i1145.photobucket.com/albums/o505/thornwolf485/SWrhino.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/249341-wips/ Share on other sites
Wulfebane
Looks good to me. As for the markings, you could lightly pencil them in, then paint over the marks, or if your hand isn't too steady, you could print out some stencils. Blacksad
I usualy use the indentions on the rhino frame for the packmarkings. it keeps it clean, allows for the battledamage, and keeps rhinos and troops together. brainwashed
I think it looks good as a starting point. I would continue the gritty look by adding some mud, dust or snow from the environment on the track guards and up the back on the rhino. If you've ever seen a vehicle, and especially a tracked vehicle, move off road you know that it get's allot of the environment it's in thrown all over it's hull. Just have it match the bases of the rest of your army, or it will look out of place. A few touches of badab black or devlan mud wash around the hatch recesses might help it look a touch less washed out in that area, but it might just be you picture giving that impression. VonMerrick
The room has really harsh lighting. In person the red is darker with Devlan mud in the hatch hinges and recesses. VonMerrick
I've added a Long Fang pack leader. He has some cleaning and highlighting still left, and I need to paint the base. http://i1145.photobucket.com/albums/o505/thornwolf485/2ca2a952.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/249341-wips/#findComment-3023655 Share on other sites
