Epic 40k Space Marine

The title says it all. While cleaning up, I came across an ancient box of original Space Marine Epic with the box (admittedly, the box is pretty battered) last night.

I started counting them out, and forming them up into companies. I have;

11 Companies of Tactical Marines (so 1,100 Space Marines)

129 Rhino's

12 Predator Annihilators

1 Razorback

3 Whirlwinds

1 Dreadnought

46 Land Raiders

45 Terminators

60 Assault Marines

7 Command squads of 5 (one with jump packs)

4 card Ruins.

They're all in excellent condition, though have basecoats and such. I've never used them, just had them long forgotten in my painting room.

I checked the price of today's equivalents over on GW, and my jaw hit the floor - it would cost me around £1,830 to buy it all from scratch right now with updated sculpts for the current vehicle marks and such.

I want to put them on eBay, but have no idea what kind of price to start an auction at. What do you guys think?

Epic!

Ho ho.

Now that that's out of the way: that's a good find, there. Though the advantage with the newer stuff is that the Marines tend to snap off at the knees less and can have their paint stripped. Epic's still got a fairly active community in the UK. Tactical Command and EpicUK both have forums. There's also NetEpic (AKA second edition Space Marine for people terminally unable to move on :D).

I'd say keep them. Old Space Marine stuff is, while not common as dirt, not desperately uncommon either (I have almost as many Marines, and it didn't cost me $3600!). Especially when large chunks of it are partly painted. The Predators are probably the most valuable.

Looking around on ebay will give you some ideas - Space Marine stuff gets auctioned off pretty regularly.
