Brother Saturnus
This is sort of a living document, ill format and correct as I go along. It's all kind of rough right now, but tell me what you think. I'd love some criticism of his rules to see If he's over powered. Draugr the Great Meglodon ...275 points A mysterious figure inside the Chapter and virtually unknown outside of the Caraharodon Astra, Draugr is perhaps one of the most ancient warriors in all of the Imperium. Considered to be the Sharks Chapter Master and living heritage, Draugr has slept less than most of the entombed over the many millennia since his internment into his sarcophagus. He returns to rest only in times when his chapter stalks the endless night and gathers its strength in the shadows. His often unargued refusal to sleep may worry his plethora of Techmarines that attend him, but garnering his ire is infinitely more troubling than his restless commitment to the Chapter. He is the remanents of the last generation of space shark before their voyage into the old night began. Fearsome yet taciturn, Draugr is as silent as his brothers on the field of battle. If there exists a fraternal nature within the brotherhood of Sharks it is not revealed and even in the throes of savage ferocity the sharks are as silent and humourless as they are when off the field in the company of outsiders. The sacred dreadnought Draugr has been entered into is brimming with deadly weapons as well as myriad defensive measures. His venerable frame is thus heavily fortified to help keep the Sharks most ancient and reveared amongst them alive. Being so protected assures the Sharks maintain a link to their roots so they will never forget their mission. The ancient Draugr keeps many secrets, entrusting only the most vital and necessary to the chapters survival to his first captain and protege, Tyberos, and to his closest council, Shaman lord Vorabduryn Hanzer. Still so much remains a mystery regarding the true nature of the space sharks, their mission, and their cause to voyage into the infinite darkness beyond the Imperium's borders. Draugr may indeed be the only one left alive who knows firsthand the answers to these questions, but he has been unwilling to share his knowledge thus far. Secrets and lore besides, Draugr is a warrior of near unparalleled stature, physically and in terms of sheer potency. His iron hide and mechanical frame can only be given so much credit, for the true prowess of the Shadow Shark is his razor sharp mind and immense millennia spanning experience of bloodshed and war. Seeing Their Patriarch, the Great Megalodon, on the field of battle fills the sharks around him with terrifying vigor, often leading them to redoubling their ferocious attacks and turning the tides of vicious melees in honor of their most lauded Ancient. To witness the Great Meglodon in action is to see thousands of years of battle skill unleashed upon an enemy that can never fully know what it faces for all too quickly it has perished, having been rendered into smoking meat and tattered viscera.Unknown horrors, that the Imperium will never suffer, have been crushed underneath his tread or shredded to bits by his monstrous claws. Many may try to test his hide, but so far none have succeeded in putting an end to the reign of the Shadow Shark, Master of the the Carcharodons, Draugr the Meglodon. (WS 6) (BS 5) (S 6[10]) (F 13) (S 12) (R 10) (I 4) (A 5) (SV 4++) WARGEAR: Two Masticators, Twinlinked Heavy-Flamer, ironclad assault launchers, Iron Halo. SPECIAL RULES: Venerable, The Red Brethren, Space Sharks Chapter Tactics, Feeding Frenzy. DEDICATED TRANSPORT: May take a Dreadnought dropod. Feeding Frenzy: Space Sharks infantry and walkers who start an assault phase within 18 inches of Draugr the Ancient gain the counter attack special rule and D3 attacks on a turn in which they assault or counter attack. This is resolved, when applicable, as a squad (one roll per squad.) In addition, the roll of a one confers no additional attacks. Draugr may not himself benefit from either of these effects. Masticators: These Dreadnought close combat weapons are filled with powerful vibrating adamantine teeth, each affected by its own individual powerfield. Each tooth, if ripped or shaken loose, is replaced by another contained within the weapon. Once a masticator takes hold of its prey, its victim has little hope of survival as its flesh is shredded and bone hewn through as if it were made of bloody rags and twigs. Also contained within a Masticator is a retractable internalized assault cannon. This gruesome combination of range and close up and brutal violence makes a Masticator something to be truly feared. Every wound from a Masticator in close combat may be rerolled if failed, but the result of the second must be accepted even if it is worse than the first, in addition rolls to penetrate armor may be rerolled in the same way. Snickers
I really like this character and enjoyed the back story, but what do The Red Brethren and Space Sharks Chapter Tactics?? Is it found in a Imperial Armour? Bjorn Firewalker
I'm normally wary of creating characters for existing Chapters- too many end up as Mary Sues, a mistake I've made as well- but I like the idea behind this character. The Masticators sound like a :tu: to model, however. What do they look like? A Siege Dreadnought's assault drill, with the cannon in the middle? It might be easier to stick an assault cannon atop a Dreadnought's chainfist- something the Angry Marines were known to use.
