Cool! Thanks for that :P

KGatch, you might have more luck asking this question in the painting area. That is where you'd find people who are more likely to experiment with different brands, rather than simply using what GW provides.

So, I can't really tell, but does anyone know a Vallejo equivalent to Shadow Grey and Space Wolves grey offhand?

Shadow Grey = Sombre Grey

Space Wolves Grey = Wolf Grey

Here is the link for the full conversion chart: http://www.evicerator.com/vallejotogwconversiontable.htm

Has no one noticed that Fenris & Shadow Grey both use the new Colour "The Fang"?

They are nothing a like. I would start stocking up while you still can.

I was at the local GW and one of the staff said to grab whatever of the old stuff you especially liked and/or were using for your dudes, as they will not be available once the new range comes out.

And GW itself notes that the colours or behaviours of things will not be exactly as they were before....

To answer the OP, I went here: http://www.paint4models.com/index.html

According to the chart, Shadow Grey's Vallejo equivalents are "London Grey"(#836), "Blue Grey Pale"(#905), and "Neutral Grey" (#992).

Space Wolf Grey had no equivalent.

The equivalents are in the Game Colour range. Those you list are from the Model Colour range. Vallejo do their own colour match chart as a pdf.

It is worth noting that Model Colour is for historicals and 'real life' minis, generally speaking, whereas Game Colour is for 'heroic scale' minis that are brighter and more cheerful, so to speak.

I was mixing a GW paint with a Model Colour paint and ended up using far more MC as the brightness/pigment count cannot compete. I assume that GC wouldn't really suffer from this.

Worth knowing, imo.

Fellow Brothers,

I see a Russ grey and a Fenrisian grey it almost is heresy not using those colors for namesake.

Is it a good color for space wolfs armour or is it the pre heresey color and the new armour color?

I´m partly colorblind and can´t see if the colors are grey or more bleuish and stuff.

So i really dont like the change in color names, when i read bloodred I know its bloodcolor now its hard to make the connection with evil sunz scarlet.

Its really frustrating, I used those colors as reference for everything. B)

Hail brothers,

seeing the post about the new paint range yesterday was like a kick between the legs for me, too. I'm still in the process of building my army, 18k and roughly two thirds of the way there -_- - now on monday I'll head out grabbing all pots of my armor-colour I can get my hands on b/c I don't want part (and we're talking about ca. 6k mind) of my force looking ever so slightly different in the main colours.

And how does this new, more pro paintrange fit to the target group of little kids ^_^ ?

On the other hand I can see myself greatly enjoying the new range in the future if it's good, just not now, now it sits ill with me.

They're definitely bluish, on par with shadow grey, but I don't know how accurate a digital color can be to the real thing so I can't say for sure if the new colors are more neutral in tone from the old paints.

I think because they intend to do what Formula P3 has been doing for years...selling boxed sets that will comply for individual armies, not just their old starter kit, but a whole range of multiple starter kits.

Im a bit late to this one but yes, its Wolf Grey and Sombre.

But the match isnt very good at all.

Aye, I tried sombre out, good coverage, nice color, good to work with, but its no where near a match for Shadow Grey, well worth considering if your starting out, but if you have an established army then its no good.

err if I read that chart right, Baal Red, "a red wash" is becomeing a purple wash. err say what? and they've changed the name to every single paint?? I've been useing Boltgun Metal for over 20 years now... why change it? Would the company that makes the paint for gw have a lock on the names? Seems I've heard they changed companies, maybe thats it. Perhaps it will be a better quality paint, I'd like to keep an open mind, but I find myself useing alot of Vallejo Game color these days, I may move over completly except for a few spot colors. I do wish that GW would go with the eye droper bottle for their paints, they last soooo much longer, and it's easier to mix by drop then by a gobb off the tip of the brush, for consistancy sake anyway. You should never paint directly out of the pot anyway, most paints need to be thinned properly before you use them. I am however makeing the run tomorrow before work for Fenris Grey/shadow grey/ spacewolf grey/ and some of the washes....

Hello brother

I´m sorry to hear that, for you it must be even harder.

Maybe there are some paint chards where all colors are on it and some explaination for what the color could be used.

With so many colors i just dont know where to put on what and always needs to ask friends.

I write every color I use down so I know which color I used for what so my whole army has the same color leatherbags.

Goodluck
