Perrin
PS2: Can someone understand what's that big slab blocking the foremost marine's chest? A thunder hammer's head? Almost positive that it's a book. Looks like you can make out the distinctive edges of the pages. Though, the book is in quite a weird place... I really, really like the creepy background. Very grimdark looking. Kinda reminds me of the scene from 300 when the Spartans visit that burning village with the tree of dead people. Which would make them Word Bearers? I only mention it because I cant see anything that makes them out as Salamanders, and I'm slightly colourblind so cant judge on the colour  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/249676-nick-kymes-salamanders-hh-novel/page/2/#findComment-3026408 Share on other sites
Wolf Priest Haelaeif
Um.. that is most certainly a hammer. No idea where you can see pages, really. Perrin
Um.. that is most certainly a hammer. No idea where you can see pages, really. Possibly the bottom corner of it, close to the bolter? It doesnt look like much a hammer, the top left corner looks like its is on a chain and the top right corner is slightly overlapped by the pauldron, which would be hard if it was a hammer. Also i cant see a marine holding a hammer like that, and it looks like its made of either stone, iron or leather which would be a pretty poor weapon to be used against another marine. I cant make the picture out that well, so im not sure its either really, but out of the two id lean more towards it being a book. Also, I'd expect any Salamanders to be: A) Running, or B in a worse condition than those two marines, espeically as it looks like the battle is already finished judging by the hanging bodies in the background. Wolf Priest Haelaeif
Put that way, it might actually make sense for them to be Word Bearers. Still not sure about that thing being a book, though, but I agree it is a bit vague. Lord Tharand
The tone of the cover is so dark that I'm not positive those are Salamanders. I suppose there is a vague greenish hint to the armor would could indicate that they are salamanders but its hard for me to tell. I also feel like their body language is wrong if they're Salamanders and seeing their missions primarchs helm on the ground. So my gut feeling is that they're probably marines from a traitor legion. Greyall
They're dark olive green with white shoulders. They share the primary colour with a reptilian helmet lying on the ground. The Salamanders' Primarch was said to wear an helm like a snarling drake. The book is about a couple of Sallies looking for Vulkan. I think it adds up to those two being sons of Vulkan, mate. =) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/249676-nick-kymes-salamanders-hh-novel/page/2/#findComment-3026570 Share on other sites

Also, Salamanders have black shoulders, apart from their scout company which does have white shoulders, but the two marines in the picture obviously aren't Scouts. Also do you have a source to back up what the novella is about? Thanks mate :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/249676-nick-kymes-salamanders-hh-novel/page/2/#findComment-3026589 Share on other sites
Greyall
I know I read somewhere that this was about the Sallies' quest to find their Primarch, and it was from a reliable person, but I can't remember who it was or where I read it. Greyall
Thank you, mate. So...I'm assuming the Salamander on the right is carrying the Tome of Fire (what I first thought was a hammer). Don't know if that's significant, just a minor observation. Brother-chaplain Astador
Best cover by far. Been looking at it and there's something strangely familiar about it, then I realised....Saurons helmet hitting the ground after he's killed by Isildur Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/249676-nick-kymes-salamanders-hh-novel/page/2/#findComment-3046068 Share on other sites
