New to the Pack

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, just started my space wolf army and im loving it!

Just a few questions though

I recently brought the battleforce and i know you can make the marines into bloodclaws, grey hunters, and wolf guard. Aside from the close combat weapon and bolt pistol, how do i differentiate the 3 different units? do i give grey hunters the bolters and bloodclaws the CCW? but then what makes wolf guard any different?

Any advice will be greatly apprecitated as im quite new to Wolves, ive only had the new codex 2 days

Thanks for the rapid reply, is there any indication to which markings are for what unit?

and does that mean i should mix bolter and CCW in the grey hunter packs?

the codex suggests red and yellow for BC

red and black GH

black and yellow for WG

black white LF

IIRC this is for ragnars company and each wolf lord is free to choose his own

Pack markings or colors that you can easily explain to an opponent as well as WYSIWYG for wargear according to the codex.

TBH i went off Grey knights due to them only having the 1 kit to make several units, and the only difference was painting them differently, it bugged me, especially since i struggle to find time to fully paint all my armies,

But say i was to paint them all, using the above mentioned markings, would i still be able to say give my grey hunters all bolters and still count them as having a CCW, and give my bloodclaws and wolf guard the CCW and pistols and paint them differently?

If you want visual differences between the Grey hunters and Blood claws, i found that Using a combination of Boltguns with either a bolt pistol or a CCW for the Grey hunters sets them apart from the blood claws who can only use Boltpistol/CCW. You could always use some of the scout CCW on the bloodclaws if you really wanted a bit more difference or find weapon arm bits from other humanoid ( even fantasy) armies. Warriors of chaos bits spring to mind.

Another thing that you could do is represent the difference in the use of only giving grey hunters thick Bearded/bald heads or helmets and giving the bloodclaws the more feral youthful looking cuts.

Oh and welcome to the Fang brother!
