Brother Ambroz
My next project after this tac squad will be a chaos dreadnought. As most people know the metal chaos dread is....well very boring. I'm planning on getting a SM dread of some kind and magnetizing it. Now I was wondering what everyone though would be the easiest? Which dread has the least amount of honor scrolls, aquilas, etc (stuff that would need to be shaved off). Also which would have the easiest arms to magnetize? I'm playing right now using the SM dex so this dread will be a pure rifleman. I have two reaper autocannons from the defiler set that I'm planning on magnetizing to the arms (cut at the powerfist sections and magnetize!). So with all that said, do you think the ironclad, furioso or regular dread would be easiest to convert in these ways? Grotsmasha
Its not so posable, but the AoBR dreads are dirt cheap on ebay and have very minimal Imperial icons to remove. Dark Bjoern
I used the normal SM dread for my Night Lords dread. Worked pretty well. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x120/DarkBjoern/DarkBjoerns%20Chaos/Night%20Lords/NightLordsDreadnought01.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x120/DarkBjoern/DarkBjoerns%20Chaos/Night%20Lords/NightLordsDreadnoughtWIP10.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x120/DarkBjoern/DarkBjoerns%20Chaos/Night%20Lords/NightLordsDreadnoughtWIP09.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x120/DarkBjoern/DarkBjoerns%20Chaos/Night%20Lords/NightLordsDreadnoughtWIP8.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x120/DarkBjoern/DarkBjoerns%20Chaos/Night%20Lords/NightLordsDreadnoughtWIP7.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x120/DarkBjoern/DarkBjoerns%20Chaos/Night%20Lords/NightLordsDreadnought03.jpg I replaced the sarcopharg with a CSM terminator body. Hyaenidae
Granted, this is the opposite of what you're asking (chaos dread into imperial, lol), but I thought I'd present this as proof that there are ways to turn even the old-skool Chaos Dreadsock into something pretty... Best of luck with your build, man!! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/249875-sm-dreadnoughts-and-converting/#findComment-3027998 Share on other sites
cathar the great
I've used the regular Dread, Ironclad and Blackreach Dread for Chaos Dread conversions. Check my profile for my topics and Librarium articles and you'll see some examples. (Yes, I am too lazy to give you links to my topics :)) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/249875-sm-dreadnoughts-and-converting/#findComment-3028104 Share on other sites
Brother Ambroz
Yes I've seen some badass conversions heathens but it's all up to the converter's skill level. An old metal model like that is just.....beyond me. Plastic I can deal with (for the most part). I'll definitely have to look into an AOBR dread, although I'm also thinking furioso because it looks like there aren't all that many imperial icons there either and the skulls are a definite plus!
