game was capture and control, dawn of war

I won the roll and chose to go second, I rolled a 3 and gave the 10 man squad and the dreadknight scout, as I rarely outflanked so thought I would try it out. He deployed his objective on the second floor of a large ruin in the centre of his deployment, 7 inches from his board edge, I put mine 24-25 inches away near a small hill.

He deployed his tervigon in his ruin, and I combat squaded the 10man squad and deployed Draigo, outflanking with my dreadknight and letting the 5 man squad walk on the first turn. He then infiltrated a squad of genestealers behind my objective, and I scouted forwards towards his objective, leaving one squad within range for draigo to join.

First turn

His tervigon spawns 15 gaunts, the most it can without running out (I believe he cackled at this point) gaunts take a wound off a termie. I ran forward, taking 2 wounds off his tervigon, my 5 man squad shoots then wipes out the genestealer squad, for the loss of a termie.

Second turn

Everything came on, his mycetic spores come down on my right to target the 4 man squad, shirkes near my objective, his tyrant, guard and hormagaunts moving on near his objective, his outflanking genestealers come in on my left, unlikely to effect the game for a few turns. He causes a few wounds but is just out of range with a few of his blast weps. Dreadknight outflanks on my left, and shunts over to be near his objective, then I flame his hormagaunts and kill 13 of them due to him not expecting it. my 4 man squad kill 14 termigants, and I take another wound off his tervigon (he made his cover save, then he made 8 out of 9 armour saves...).

Third turn

His hive tyrant moves towards my dreadknight, along with some spawned termigants and 6 slightly singed hormagaunts. he shoots with everything at my army. I lose no models until the end where the 4 man squad lose a termie then flee off the table, DOH Dreadknight kills 2 hormagaunts but doesn't do enough to be free, meh

fourth turn

He starts to close in on me, 9 spawned termigants deploy on the objective, while a 5 and 12 strong squad of termigants move towards draigos and the remaining termie squad. they shoot and charge, draigo's squad kill their 5 easily and consolidate towards his objective and tyrant, while the other squad remains locked. Draigo detaches and charges towards his tervigon, while his squad goes after the hive tyrant. both of them kill thier targets, the death throes of the tervigon kill 8 of the 9 termigants on his objective, while the dreadknight wins combat finally and consolidates towards the genestealers heading towards my objective, a lone termie emerges from the termigant combat with 1 wound remaining, near my objective.

Fith turn

He runs his genestealers towards my objective but is out of assault range of the remaining termie, a single shrike, a zoan and the 6 termigants from the mycetic spore shoot then assault and still fail to kill the terminator. My turn I move the remaining squad to capture his objective, and dragio assaults the lone termigant. my dreadknight jumps 12 inches and kills 7 genestealers, "oh, forgot he could move like jump infantry", he then concedes as his last survivng troop falls back, unable to regroup.

First game was against Commander Sasha's skavenids again, but with a few changes to his list. 5 objective pitched battle. Highlights were killing his tervigon with massed psycannon fire on my second turn, draigo withstanding a charge from 10 genestealers, letting pallies come to his rescue, 3 pallies survivng a charge from 9 genestealers and then wiping them out next turn, and draigo charging a hive tyrant and guard, putting a wound on each and killing them due to force weapon activation.

Lows were my dreadnight dying early (saved some fire on my pallies though), a zoanthrope charging past draigo to kill a lone pally on an objective in the 7th turn.

Second game was Vs RebG's angels sanguine, A libby, 2 assault squads, command squad, storm raven, 2 individual landspeeders and a furioso dread. kill points, dawn of war set up. I decided to not combat squad, So I only had 4 kill points, while my opponent had around 10. I won, 7-8 kill points to 3. Highlights were having my 10 man squad suffer a round of shooting and assault from 2 depleted assault squads, despite suffering quite a few wounds I only lost 1 pally. Draigo charged and killed the libby and held up the many power weaponed command squad, giving his life to help my last kill point survive.

Lows were the amount of psycannon shots it took to take out the storm raven, the amount I had to hide to preserve my squads and how easily my 5 man squad lost wounds to combined fire (well, his dread with fragcannon, assault cannon, 2 depleted squads and a landspeeder), they then ran off the table, I really miss fearless.

Right, got 2 games in today, both at 2000 points, so I added a libby with halbard and sanctuary, shrouding, warp rift, might of titans, quicksilver and 3 servo skulls, a vindicare assassin, a dread with psycannon and incinerator (assault cannon, heavy flamer and psy stuffs) and I master crafted a few hammers.

First game was kill points, dawn of war against a dual landraider chaos marine army, including lucius and 9 noise marines in one, and kharne and 9 berserkers in the other. 7 termies, 10 dual melta chaos marines in a rhino and a vindicator. He conceded on the 4th/5th turn as by that point he had killed a few termies, my Dreadknight and libby while I had left him with a weaponless vindicator and a untouched landraider (8 kill points to 2).

Second game was capture and control, dawn of war again vs orks, 2 big meks with custom force fields, 1 battle wagon, 10 nobs, 30 boys, 2 squads of gretchin, 12 lootas, 2x3 killa kans, and 2 dread's, 3 bikes and 3 deth koptors (he forgot to deploy his 3 zapp guns and didn't remember about them til the end of the game).

I won by grabbing his objective in the 5th turn after the one squad I had left on mine got wiped out due to the nob squad charging out of a battle wagon and fail rolling from me. I targeted his 3 scoring units and wiped them out by the end of the third turn.

The libby is damn nice, helped draigo and his squad kill several dreads and killer kans (might of titans+hammer hand=str6 +2d6 armour penetration:D ), of course fighting a list with some psychic defence wouldn't have the same effect, but the libby was the man of the match in the second game, while the dreadnought was a bit lack lustre, the vindicare didn't impress me too much either (first game he took the lascannon off a landraider and killed a rhino, while in the second game he did pretty much nothing except die to the bikes due to custom force field saves. Force weapons really helped vs the nob squad the second time around too. Draigo didn't do that much apart from absorb a lot of damage, but that kept my troops alive and let me win so I guess that's a good thing.

Draigo wing vs skavenids, 1500 points, my army is around here somewhere (draigo, 15 pallies 1 dreadknight), Commander Sasha's skavenids army was: hive tyrant with twin linked devourers, bone sword lash whip, hive commander, old adversary, 1 tyrant guard, 2 hive guard, 2 zoanthropes in a spore, 19 gaunts with an assault 3 gun in a spore, 2x10 genestealers, tervigon and 3 shrikes with 1 barbed strangler.

First game, kill points, dawn of war, I won the roll and went second, he deployed his tyrant and 2 squads of genestealers in the centre of the board as far forward as possible, I deployed nothing, bringing on everything in my first turn apart from the dreadknight which was normal reserved.

I won this game 8 kill points to 1.

I came on and killed his tyrant guard and took a wound off his tyrant, and also killed 4 genestealers, he charged me with the genestealers and had also hit me with some psychic ability that reduced my 10man squad to WS and BS 1, I was incredibly lucky and made quite a few saves, wiping out the squads due to no retreat wounds. Next turn I charged a lone draigo at his hive tyrant for some fun (i'd taken a charge from 2 of his hardest squads and had only lost a single model due to a perils of the warp and then shooting from the tyrant). draigo and the hive tyrant killed each other. then it was just a mop up, once I'd inflicted more then 4 kill points the only way he could have won would have been to table me (as I only have 4 kill points if I dont combat squad the 10man).

So we had lunch (thanks loads Commander Sasha:D ), and then he asked me if we can play again, but if he chose the mission, set up and who went first.

Second game, capture and control, dawn of war, I deployed first and combat squaded the 10 man and deployed draigo with one of them, as far forward as possible, the 5 man squad walking in on the first turn and the scoring dreadknight was reserved. He deployed his hive tyrant and 2 genestealer squads in a building, and then stole the initiative.

I was tabled by turn 5, I forgot that the grey knight army is a shooty and close combat army, and also that the way I handled the charge from 2 genestealer squads was with a 10man. Draigo fluffed his saves early on and his 5 man squad got munched, I charged the other half of the 10man squad in but they got bogged down as well, my 5 man squad came on, got pounced on by 2 mycetic spores, and instant deathed by zoanthropes warp lance thingy. When my dreadknight finally came on, he got pounced on by the shrikes and due to their lashwhip didn't kill anything before he died.

more to come after this commercial break
