Stolid Fox
Hey guys, I've got a bunch of bits for armies since I love mixing and matching kits. Most of the time they fit right in, or the conversion is easy (e.g. shave off the blood drop for some BA pieces or fill in the latin on GK). However, there are a few pieces that seem just unsalvageable; in particular I'm looking at the Blood Angels banner right now. Since I run my marines as Wolves sometimes (foxes second cousins, close enough) I would love to get more banner pieces for my Grey Hunter squads. Unfortunately I'm not sure of a great way to remove the interior detail of the banner without risking simply destroying the banner, especially with it's deep curves and such. Best I can figure is take my time with sandpaper, but does anyone have any suggestions before I ruin the piece? Chapter Master Ignis Domus
You could try Green Stuffing it. It'd be thicker, but also flat. You could even sculpt a design into it. Rune Priest Ridcully
Am thinking of getting my hands on an honor guard standard bearer and converting him to a Thousand Sons one, any idea how to remove the metal banner interior? Kurgan the Lurker
A Dremel tool with the appropriate grinding wheel or cone bit should do the trick for metal banners. Barring that you could use needle files though that will take somewhat more time. Needle files would work best on the plastic. I'm not sure if Dremel has a wheel/cone for plastics (they probably do) but that and a low speed setting. You wouldn't want to melt the banner. apologist
I'd suggest a couple of layers of liquid green stuff would be ideal for this task.
