BackSplash
My new Libby I went a little too dark on his face. I am not the greatest painter in the world, but hey I try hard...lol. He is also magnatized. http://i1155.photobucket.com/albums/p556/mikeszokola/Warhammer%2040k%20Ultramarines/Libby.jpg http://i1155.photobucket.com/albums/p556/mikeszokola/Warhammer%2040k%20Ultramarines/101_0914.jpg http://i1155.photobucket.com/albums/p556/mikeszokola/Warhammer%2040k%20Ultramarines/101_0912.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/250032-my-new-libby/ Share on other sites
Chapter Master Ignis Domus
Very nice! That green circle, blue triangle, red triangle chapter symbol on what looks like a page is just so incredible it seems to blot out the entire model! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/250032-my-new-libby/#findComment-3030408 Share on other sites

Nym468
Looks good. Try drilling out the barrels of his bolter for a real finished look. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/250032-my-new-libby/#findComment-3030429 Share on other sites
Forza St. Pauli
Honestly? I don’t like it very much… I know it sounds hard, but overall I think there is much room for improvements. The colours are applied way to thick. Try thinning them down with water before applying. (Three thin coats are better than one thick coat) No highlights. That would give the mini a more realistic look. Furthermore I suggest using washes. They can make a huge difference. Klick here. I really don’t want to discourage you and the most important advice I can give you is to keep painting. No one is born a master! Freman Bloodglaive
Agreed on the storm bolter barrels. Try a dash of ogryn flesh wash to the face followed by some tallern flesh on the nose and cheeks. Remember to keep the paints thin. It's always better to do two thin coats than one thick one. Relax, take your time. I've been painting for ten years and it still doesn't come out exactly as I want it every time. The nice thing about painting is that if you want to change something a bit more paint will usually do it. greatcrusade08
the key to being a half decent painter is patience and neatness. the head of the force axe tells me your capable, you should apply yourself to every part of the model.. start with a black undercoat, water down your colours and invest in a good badab black wash and youll do much better next time around. BackSplash
Yeah I am really just not happy with the face. I am thinking of watering down the face and redoing it. It looked really good before I applied a wash to it and darkened it a little too much. Appreciate the critique. greatcrusade08
as a hint, if you give the face a really light drybrush of whatever colour flesh you want it, it gives you a 'guide' of which bits to paint leaving the recessess darker Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/250032-my-new-libby/#findComment-3031257 Share on other sites
