Current space wolf colour scheme/ favourite character?

Hey guys, just a quickie

 

It's my birthday this weekend and my girlfriends brought me a load of the new colours to paint my wolves up with! I've never actually painted an army fully before. And this is going to be the one!

 

I love the character that the models bring and it's going to be a project for me to actually finish painting an army!!

 

In preparation I didn't know wether to base them white or black. Based on the new scheme

 

 

And I've just finished reading battle of the fang. And I absolutely fell in love with bjorn the fell handed in that book. But on paper I didnt think he was that impressive. The best character IMO in the storm caller. But I see of of people take Ragnar and Logan. Just wanted to know people's favourites:-)

I prime with Halfords grey primer. But my scheme is closer to fortress grey. If your going for the GW scheme then prime black.

 

Ulrik is my fave and it was his model that I first painted for SW. Back when it was first released...in lead. Do like the idea of Bjorn too.

Personally I base with white because I like my wolves to have a good bright color more so than the typical 40k dark and dreary. It goes against everything in my mind but I think they come out better. I am also a new painter and I paint basic with little to no modeling skills so my opinion might not be the best one. I would say test out a few and see which you find to your liking.

 

As far as the character thing goes I love the storm caller and if I am putting a hero in my army I try like hell to find him a place. Logan is my good second he is a good hard hitting bad ass and I know people like Ragnar for the same reasons.

I prime with black and then Shadow Grey (though that is now The Fang), and then if I need something bright I do up white by hand usually. My personal favorite character is actually Arjac, I am not sure if it is his fluff or his ability to lob Foehammer into some poor hapless target...

I prime grey (Kyrlon indoor/outdoor flat primer).

 

My scheme is pretty basic (Using old GW colors, not familiar with the new names yet): Shadow Grey, wash Badad Black, Highlight Fortress Grey. Shoulder Pads are White. I wanted them to look a little boring, Erik Morkai's company would be stealth and not care for flash in my opinion.

 

Favorite character that is stated out is Ragnar. I use him as my "count as" for Erik Morkai. Love running him with a simple Grey Hunter squad with a pack of TWC on his flank. TWC with strength 6 and I5 is wicked.
