RagingChainsword
Does anyone have any tips for a novice painter for a Blood Angels player regarding the new paint range? I haven't done highliting at all because I don't really get what I have to do (yeah, I'm pretty stupid) and would like to get some really nice looking models using the new paints. What paints and brushes should I buy, what should I do with them and does anyone have any tips to help make it easier to get good looking models? Just looking for some general advice, please take it easy on me, I know alot of long time players that find me really annoying ;) so plaese don't give me a load of grief. Thanks in advance, RCS Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/250652-ba-noob-looking-for-tips/ Share on other sites
Sabadin
Here's a few quick test marines I rushed through with the new range to give an idea of how the GW reccomended colours can look. The left one used mephiston red as the main colour, the right one used evil suns scarlet as a the main, highlighted with wild rider red and a drybrush of kindleflame on the extreme edges followed by a glaze of bloodletter. The glaze really mutes the extreme colour of kindleflame, but also mutes out the smaller highlights if you're not careful with it. Simple and looks pretty decent. Hope this helps. DarkMark
Bare bones you'll need: Clippers to remove models from sprue Hobby knife to shave bits off models, once off sprue Files to remove mold lines, I use a flat and a round one Brushes: size 3 for large areas, 2 for general work, and a 0 for details like eyes. I recommend buying the best you can afford, GW's are awful btw! Glue: plastic for plastics, and super glue or 2-part fast setting epoxy for metal. The Army painter do decent starter sets that aren't too expensive, but anyways you'll looking to spend around £30 ish in total for your hobby kit. Xenith
I got a really nice, tabletop standard marine done with: Mephiston red, heavy carroburg crimson wash, go back over the big flat plates with slightly thinned mephiston. The just paint the gun black and chest eagle, the metal bits metal, and the eye lenses. Brother Nihm
Things that don't belong in the tutorials area: Questions that aren't a tutorial for starters. "What color do I highlight Scorpion Green with?" Isn't a tutorial or even a tutorial question. That is for General PCA Questions. Topic moved.
