Crowe is awesome

Recommended Posts

So, I now have to reward my Crowe model, this is what happened.

GK vs Nids at 2,500

Purifier list vs ...um...a bunch of nids

This is just for what Crowe did, i think he needs a awesome thread rather then a hate thread.

He took one wound on turn two from that Carfex that can shoot through stuff. Turn 3 a 15 unit squad of the ranged troops that have 3 assault shots a turn got too close and crowe charged, managed to get CF off under the 3d6, killed 6 of them. Then 1 attack per model in BtB killed 4 more, then no retreat kill the 5 left, i took no wounds. Turn 4 charged a carfex and went to town, turn 5 took the last wounds off two carfexs and moved to contest the nearby obj. Turn 6 wiped out 15 Genestealers between CF and attacks and contested the OBJ. Game ended in a tie.

In all, 2 carfexes, 15 stealers, 15 of the shooty troops and contested an OBJ. he saved in all about 8 power weapon hits in CC and over 35 armor saves...i know this is some good dice rolls...be he did good today.

I actually agree with you, crowe isn't as bad as everyone says he is. His cleansing flame is rending, and you can always just run him behind your vehicles to keep him safe. that way he arrives and jut helps to finish off anyone that is holding you guys up. on top of that the whole ' I'm dying, so your coming too!!' is pretty good, if not exactly reliable.

I'm not trying to say that he is good, just slightly underrated.

I also like to make absolutist statements on a subjective issue.

Trolololololol.

Well without them forums would not exist, everywhere has absolute statements on subjective issued, Hell the whole army list section would cease to exist without them, as would any tactical sections

well, i used him to distract the enemy, and he didn't take the bait...he got slammed by Crowe and paid the price in blood and dead squads...the game ended but i wanted to see what would happen if i charged his last genestealer squad, he had a bad roll and i save everything (chose to reroll my sv) and with CF killed 8 models...he faild the Ld test and i SA him...it almost looked as tho he wanted to cry.

In all he could have beat me, i underestimated how many shots he could lay into my armor saves every shooting phase, i just changed plans and forced him into CC.

Has anyone done the 'lol your uber tank is dead' move with him yet? 'Heroic Sacrifice' removes the model, so technically if you get squished by a Tank Shock, you can one-shot it to hell with you. Seeing as no one fields Bro Champs (sigh, if only they were Elites...).

You can nuke Tanks.

If you assault them, and they're immobile and don't move away form you next turn, and you get assaulted by the enemy, and you die.

Then you can remove the immobile tank with your HS (which you also auto hit, cuz it's immobile!).

Other than that, you can't.

As Crowe, in his infinite wisdom, can't multi assault into a unit *and* a Tank. As he can't ever join a unit to do so.

B) Baller. So, in a game of Apoc, I can one-shot Titans? :D

Tyranids might not be a good codex, but genestealers still hit like a tonne of bricks...

Yes, yes they do. Especially when you fail 'Sanctuary', and they eat half your gunline. Broodlords as squad leaders are really annoying, especially with their 'Gaze of Do Nothing'

shutting down the squad hammer or Librarian.

Crap. You can have an opinion and state a case without the use of absolutism. These are discussion forums, "This is my opinion and it is right" doesn't really contribute to a discussion in any meaningful way.

While I must admit Crowes miniature is rather horrid looking and his rules are lacking he deserves no more hate than any other. And personally I view these "hate" threads and such as a poor excuse for gaming knowledge. If you cant view Crowe as a useful tool and key to what the GK army should be then perhaps your playing the wrong game. Keep it constructive please.

And with that said I'm glad to hear you've found a good use for Crowe in your army. That's quite the tally for one game. Any specific tricks or ideas you used to get him there?

=]D[=

Well thanks to the ridiculously small amount of gaming space in the Only gaming store in town, I've only used him in two games.

The first one went well enough, I used him to block up and surprisingly kill a unit of ork bikerz who were making a run for my back field. The second one not so well.... Vs Imperial Guard, he took a basalisk round early on and failed it all.

Truth be told he's not bad at holding the back field despite being by himself. Cleansing flame, 4++ w/ rerolls makes him a wonderful tarpit. And heroic sacrifice is just icing on the cake. Now if only he could join a unit he'd be a must have eh?

I honestly feel cheap having to take him only to keep the Water Warrior tactics as sharp as they can be.

Purifiers w/LR trump Strikes w/LR any day. (And remarkably cheaper when you only have metal models.)

=]D[=

That's what made me love him at first, before we knew he couldn't join units.

I imagined a bad@$$ emperors champion-like Grey Knight that wielded an epic daemonblade like it was nothing...And then I saw the codex and said "what the f*** is this?!?" But hey, I'll stand by my original thoughts and keep him in my thoughts as a champion among our Knights :D

And whenever I don't field purifiers alot, I use a regular Brotherhood Champ and imagine he's what Crowe should have been.

(edited: couldn't get the smiley to work right)

What i have always seen people do with Crowe is just missle him into the enemy and try to kill anything they can when kill points are not involved. What is have always done with my Purifier list is move to the middle of the board and start fireing at the enemy, i get Crowe behind cover within assault range of one of my units. Once the enemy has gotten too close or assaults my Purifiers i throw Crowe into the fight, he always makes for clean sweeping advances. I play defense with him, or put him in a LandRaider if i want to really get him in.
