Pbenner
Okay. I am in the middle of a Librarian conversion. I am looking at War gear and not Psychic powers. It seems like the difference between the Force Sword and the Warding Stave (seem to be the only Viable Options) is a 4++ or a 2++. Forcing the opponent in CC to choose to try to whack my Librarian or the squad. Leaving him open for those two psychic powers per turn. I agree that the Halbred seems a waste with only two attacks per turn. Are these options viable enough that magnetizing his wrist joint for a stave *or* a force sword would be the best course of action? I have done a lot of magnet work in the past so that won't be difficult, just a little time. Let me know. jeffersonian000
Swords are cheap, and Staves are expensive. Most of us still play old-school and cut out bling to add more bodies. However, Draigowing has proven that bling can be great. That said, if you can model it, then having the option to swap out weapons on your Librarian is a net benefit. Personally, I magnetize everything, just on the off chance I can fit a good gear-combo on my small/expensive collection of toy soldiers. Reclusiarch Darius
Except cutting the stave doesn't net you any more bodies, as your squads should already be at full strength (except Paladins, they work as combat squads better arguably). I don't see any reason not to on Librarians. They are going to be targeted in combat by powerfists etc, so you might as well invest in something to protect them. It has saved my Libby's life on several occasions. Plus it has the amusing side benefit of protecting him from 'Perils' when in close-combat (which, as we all know, is highly likely, because Librarians generally join units heading for combat ie in TDA). Staves don't work on GM's, because they already get 3+ for free in combat. They don't work on squads, because psycannons are a better investment always. RedemptionNL
Aye, the Librarian is the only model in my army with a Warding Stave. Not only does it work well in protecting him, as the 2++ save is a good discouragement for the opponent to single him out in close combat, it also makes him look more Librariany (is that a word?). Reclusiarch Darius
Everything is a word, this is English I modelled mine using the Stern model (heh, nice one GW, make the actual character unusable), and just replaced his ludicrous sword with the stave. Kinda looks cool too, like he's swinging down the big skull icon onto a daemon's face. landoro
With my next box of terminators I am gogin to convert a librarian with a sword in one hand and a stave in the other to make him look more fantsy "wizard like", this is the main reason for the conversion. This also means I can count him as having either the stave or the sword tough I will of course make it perfectly clear to my opponent before. I think a wizard should have a stave, it is their trademark item. have fun landoro Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/250764-gk-librarian/#findComment-3041503 Share on other sites

Pbenner
I need a book for mine yet. I will take some pictures when he is finished. I need to get onto the painting. Waiting on my Draigo to get here with his other 5 Paladin buddies. Will keep you posted. nurglez
I started work on a Libby, with a warding stave, however, after playing with him alongside my Draigowing I have stopped using him as it made my friends cry so I haven't finished him. For me, a warding stave is rather important, as people will want to single him out to stop him using his psychic hood or all his overpowered psychic abilities. Here is a picture just because I can, taken awhile ago as that paladin is now painted ;) http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c397/nurglez/LibbyMk2.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/250764-gk-librarian/#findComment-3041919 Share on other sites
Pbenner
I really like your Libby Nurglez. You did well on him. I went out and bought a RT Era Inquisitor in TDA today for :cusss and grins. Kind of excited to see him ^_^ I have an 1850 Tournament this weekend. Kind of wanting to play my Draigowing but I will have to push hard to make it. Godhead
I used the librarian from the new space hulk set. I magnetized the left hand to include the fist holding the daemon head for when he's sporting the warding stave and a sword hand when he's not equipping the staff.
