Pbenner
Eldar vs Deathwing My List: Belial w/ TH//SS Interrogator Chaplain in TDA with Combi-Melta 4x Deathwing Squads 1x Apothecary, Banner, CML, 3x TH//SS 1x CF//SB and 1x LC 2x CML, 3x LC , 2x TH//SS 1x PS//AC , 2x PF//SB, 2x CF//SB 1x Land raider crusader w/ EA, and Hunter Killer Missile Mark brought: Eldrad Psycher Wraithguard from Forge world 3x Wraithguard 2x Troop things w/warlocks (don't play eldar often) We opted to play a battle missions book from the Eldar. The first one listed. Eldar deployed first. The Wraithguards were deployed aggressively near my required deployment area with his troops on the flanks. Eldrad and his squad hiding firmly behind a building. I deployed my HQs entrenched in the LR with the command squad nearest the rear of my board, with the barest bit of the hull within range to meet the requirement. The two CML squads deployed to my right flank with clean lines of fire to his open squad, utilizing Deathwing Assault with single shooting squad. Mark rolled a two so he got first turn. Most of his stuff marched forward and ran towards the fray. Only Eldrads squad rolled well for the run, everyone else was a 1-2 inch run. One Wraithguard got a whole 3" I deployed my Deathwing assault unit directly behind his unit on my right side, scoring a hit for Deep Strike. My Land Raider came forward six inches and unloaded onto his Wraithguard psycher, only causing a single wound with the Melta. T8 is hard to punch through. My two missile squads opened up and ripped down three units on the right side and the Deathwing squad which arrived took down one more. Mark, on turn two continued his advance on my left side, fireing his big guys cannon thing to no avail at my land raider. Eldrad advanced and periled on his power, but made his save. The right side of the field turned and attempted to deal with the new menace. Big wraithguard psyched gave his friend fleet and he promptly charged into the fray with the terminators in the back field. A unit of troops and the wraithguard charge me Deathwing squad who do nothing and lose a model. Mark wins combat by one. On my turn two the land raider moves up and unloads everything except the melta at Eldrad. The melts fires at the big guy but is ineffective. The assault cannon and heavy bolters also fail to wound. The command squad disembarks and fires everything to no avail at Eldrad and his unit and charges. The command squad stands their ground making 3/4 armor saves and one FNP to lose zero and in turn wipes the unit out. The Apothecary splatters Eldrad with s mighty blow from his thunderfrostaxehammer. The missiles on my right put up a wound on a wraithguard and the shooty squad in CC fails all three invulnerable saves from the wraithguard and bites the dust. Mark sends his wraithguard at my land raider and promptly wreck it in a single turn. The big wraithguard psycher comes over after my command squad and charges. Dealing a deathblow and taking a wound In return. The right side continues its advance having dealt with the snooty squad but is well outside charge or shooting range. My two CML squads move up, well within the 12" I need to assault, one squad steps up and fires at the troops and blow two up. The other squad on the right lights up one of the wraithguard near my wreck putting a wound on it. On the charge the terminators obliterate his small remaining troops except the warlock who attempts to run but is caught and destroyed. The big psycher wraithguard puts down the lightning claw guy and a hammer guy, but takes a would in return, I make my fearless save. The other wraithguard moves over to attempt to deal with the right side firepower. Mark turn three. The right side wraithguard charges my terminators and kills the two LC guys who can't hurt him, and goes down like a cheap prostitute to the hammers in the squad. The other two available wraithguard move towards my terminators but cannot do much else. The psycher wraithguard puts down the remaining squad members from the command squad, but takes his next to last wound to Belial. My turn three. The two remaining squads on the right side move and open up on a wraithguard, taking one of the remaining two down. Belial takes three hits from the Psycher and fails a save. No Eternal Warrior gives him an ID (Mark didn't realize he lacked Eternal Warrior so he lived a lot longer than he should have), the chaplain holds him in combat but at Str 4 can't touch his T8. Mark turn four. Standing wraithguard advances. Does nothing. Wraith psycher kills the Chaplain finally. My four. I open up with missiles on the Psycher thing, finally putting it down. No assaults can be made this turn. Mark turn five. Last remaining wraithguard thing rolls a 1 on his "silly eldar chasing butterfly sword" and can't do anything. My five - Move, whiff with four missiles. Assault and kill the last standing Eldar unit. Was a great match and I couldn't have found a nicer guy to play against. I will gladly play with Mark again. Mission rules gave me 12 VP to Marks 9. My first win as Deathwing. Was satisfying. Dice sucked for both of us. Mine sucked slightly less. Polythemus
Hi nicely written batrep. Do you think that the battle missions for the eldar really helped them much, i have never played them and was wondering if those missions would really benefit them. "terminators obliterate his small remaining troops except the warlock who attempts to run but is caught" this phrase makes it seem like the termies made a sweeping advance, is that what you meant? The rules say they cant do that. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/251035-my-game-last-night/#findComment-3043187 Share on other sites
Brother Kovash
Sounds like he never got the chance to use bladestorm. I've often lost entire squads or 4/5 termies due to a bladestorming squad of Guardians or Dire Avengers. Nice batrep, like Polythemus said though, you can't sweeping advance in TDA. Pbenner
Then we made a mistake, but it's not like it would have mattered all that much at the end of the day. The Warlock wasn't likely to do anything other than eat a krak missile the next round. My bad. It was late enough in the game that it didn't matter. I had totally forgot as I don't get to play very often (Even though I enjoy it very much). Thanks for the kind words. I'll try to remember pictures next time. BigGumbo
Then we made a mistake, but it's not like it would have mattered all that much at the end of the day. A mate and I made a similar boo-boo when my lone Devastator sergeant ripped his BA assault squad a new one (alright, won the combat by one wound) and they failed their morale check and scarpered - we both forgot that ATSKNF means no wipe-out when caught by a sweeping advance. He won anyway but Sarge made a real name for himself that day, having survived a flamestorm shot from his Baal Pred the previous shooting phase. It's the fun that counts in the end -_- Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/251035-my-game-last-night/#findComment-3043326 Share on other sites
