That one secret.

Heya. I know the Inquisition has access to many secrets, and the Grey Knights have one in particular.. Apparently it's the thing that is stored on Titan in a tiny box and it can save the Imperium when it is needed. I tried to look it up. Is this just one of those things GW threw in but was never meant to be revealed? Or do I just suck at searching for it?

Oh, and before any of you Grey Knights try to lynch me for stealing your secrets, know that I have a null fetus stasis casket somewhere on my person and I am not afraid to expose us all to its sick aura.

Covering ourselfs in the slaughtered blood of innocent SoBs to protect ourselves from the God of Slaughtering the Innocent?

Surely!

Or maybe taking the universes most powerful artifact into battle, just incase the only guy able to weild it dies?

GL, you have exceeded your Facepalm Quota for the day.

innocent SoBs

I'm pretty sure they fired on GKs a few times.

"Teehee! Look! Chaos marines! Puuuuuuurge!"

What a great book.

I digress- The off-switch seems pretty cool. :]

I have a theory though. Since Czevak is able to access Eldar soul transference knowledge that could allow for the resurrection of the Emperor, is it so far-fetched that GKs might already have that technology? Considering that the Emperor's damned bedroom had a portal to the webway during the Heresy, basically.

Maybe the GKs know that the Emperor isn't a god, and that when he is truly needed, they can repair him and he can walk among man again.

Actually, scratch that. Death to the corpse god and all that.

Actually the conflict between those who would become the Thorian branch of the Inquisition (the Promeans) and the followers of Moriana (the Horusians) existed before the Inquisition did formally (rather the Inquisition was founded to fight off the resurrectionists, one half of which would later join the very organization that was formed to fight them... that's what you call ironic)*. Being as the very concept of resurrecting the Emperor (and search for possible Divine Avatars) has been around since the internment of the Emperor in the Golden Throne... I don't think your idea is that far-fetched at all.

What happened to the Illuminati (Psykers who expunged their possessing demon by their own) and the Sensei, the biological sons (were there daughters too?) of the emperor?

If i remember there was once a plot to sacrifice his children to the emperor to quasi reenergize him?

In my own opinion, the Illuminati are still around fluffwise, it's just not as "in-your-face" as some fluff. This is really established of course in the Inquisition War trilogy of books from the Black Library. Critics will point out that this material is back from when Squats existed and is old by modern standards. However, we also have the Exorcists Chapter, created by an unknown group of Inquisitors, with the fluff in Codex: Armaggeddon and IA volume 10. This reaffirms the basic principle of Daemonic Possession Therapy. Furthermore, on the last page of Xenology (a Black Library work) there is discussion and theory on a tablet of Eldar origins (with a graphic displaying the tablet). Looking at the clues on this page point to the Numen fluff still being potentially in play and explored by some of the Black Library authors, and has a much later publishing date than the original Inquisition War or even the Codex: Armaggeddon book.

Since the Illuminati are working with and tutored by Eldar Harlequins, it is quite possible that they are working towards the same end (which may or may not be manipulation by the Eldar, although the Harlequins are decidedly anti-Chaos) and that this tablet is confirmation of that old bit of fluff. Due to all these factors and no fluff disproving the Illuminati, the Sensei (Sebastian Thor, anyone? He had a documented ability for warp travel and creating/qwelling warp storms while being decidedly freakishly untouched by Chaos and being ultimately pure), the Thorian branch of the Inquisition... there's just too many tidbits that still point to this being legitimate.

grats. You have found the single piece of good new fluff in the GK codex :)

Mordrak's fluff is awesome as well and that's about it.

My bet is that the box contains a piece of paper with something like "I can't believe you fell for something this stupid" written on it.

It's not really that ragey. More "gentle ribbing".

Does anyone else remember that the Sensei were masters of "pure warp energy", untainted by emotions and therefore not chaosy?

Only they could only use their warp energy (warp energy being energy generated by thinking beings, I might remind you) to affect their own abilities and occasionally the minds of the weak-willed...

In other new: Go, go Imperial Jedi.

Not sure if this is a spoiler or not:

I think they might be surviving in the fluff through the mysterious likes of John Grammaticus and Ollanius Persson (Pius?).

If you haven't read Legion, The Outcast Dead, or Know No Fear, there are some strange things in them that throw fuel on the fluff fire.

At any rate illuminati should still exist in one form or another. I rememeber a piece of fluff text (I think from the Inquisitor rulebook or in the old Deamonhunters Codex) where an old inquisitor addresses a class of =][= cadets and revealing that he himself has been possessed but had been able to cast out the deamon ...whilst horribly mutilating himself...

I think GW are trying to shy away from the Illuminati thinkg. At this years Black Library Live I asked Christian in one of the Q&A sessions if it was ok to write abuot for a pitch that I had knocking around in my head for this years submission & he said that all the old stuff like Illuminati & the Sensei was a no no as they were shying away from it. Have to say I was more than a tad gutted as I loved that bit of fluff.

So much of the fluff has been re-written now as GW have chopped & changed so many things. Just ask A D-B how much of the GK stuff was changed mid way through drafting The Emperos Gift ;) . That 'little rant' will live with me til the end of my days

Hey look guys, the internet hate train has pulled into the station. Be sure to leave common sense and rationality on the platform. It will be collected and disposed of later, in the furnaces of blind nerd rage. All aboard! Next stop, Codex: Chaos Space Marines!

(pro-tip: remember to buy and use the source of your anger anyway, as hypocrisy = cool kids club)

To answer your question OP, the pine box contains the following holy instructions, writ by the hand of the Emperor himself;

- Invoke the Litany of Striking

- Strike the Rune of Activation

- Receive Rapture

Underneath the note is a small black box, with a big red button. On the button are inscribed the words 'DO NOT PRESS' in huge white letters.
