When all others fail you shall not and where others hesitate you will not. You my sons forsaking any rest, forsaking any respite, you shall be the bring ruin to the enemies of man, they will whisper your names in terror and you shall be called Nemesis, lords of retribution.” Roboute Guilliman at the Founding of the Nemesis Chapter before their departure from Macragge. For the next two millennia the Nemesis Chapter reclaimed and conquered worlds in an unrelenting crusade beginning in the Dominion of Storms, through the Gates of Varl, the Ghoul Stars, and finally reaching into the far reaches of the Centaurus Arm. Returning to the core of the galaxy after two millennium of crusade the Nemesis Chapter continued its bloody went into , over the next millennia the Nemesis Chapter was recorded fighting in every in segmentum, but with the darkness of the Age of Apostasy the crusade came to a halt. The Binary War Stranded by massive warp storms in Segmentum Pacificus in the chapter was pinned in the Dirus sector facing a massive ork Waagh! under Warboss Dredkilla without support or communication. Spending the next decade raiding against the Ork Fleet using hit and run tactics the Nemesis chapter slowed the progress of the Ork hulks to a standstill, until finally isolating the Dredkilla’s flagship were Chapter Master Balian and the veterans of the 1st company cut down the Warboss and broke the ork force. Sending them running back for the safety of the halo zone. Desperate for resupply and with a battered fleet the chapter headed to the nearest system it could reach, the Hydraphur system. Unbeknownst to the chapter Cardinal Bucharis had taken over the system and the Segmentum Pacificus fleet, so when the chapter arrived in system they were denounced as unbelievers and the renegade cardinal’s fleet opened fire on the chapter destroying numerous escort ships, the strike cruisers of the 9th and 10th companies, and heavily damaging the rest of the fleet. Outgunned by the combined firepower of the system defenses and the imperial fleet, chapter high command gave the order to jump for terra to bring news of the treachery, and fled into the warp storms. Over two years later the Nemesis chapter arrived in Sol system and began broadcasting their message. Taken into to the High Lords of Terra under guard of the Imperial Fists Chapter Master Balian recounted the chapters flight to Terra and the turn of Bucharis and Segmentum Pacificus, and it was decided that Confessor Dolan would be dispatched to bring Bucharis to heel, but with Dolan’s execution the Nemesis chapter saw their chance for revenge. Refitted and armed with an Inquisitorial mandate purge the forces still loyal to the cardinal, the chapter launched back into the renegade empire and began making devastating attacks, putting entire worlds to the sword as Terra reasserted control over the renegades. The 41st Millenium Following the Plague of Unbelief the Nemesis chapter sequestered itself rebuilding and reshaping the chapter. After a century the chapter reemerged as dangerous as before, and immediately set of toward the halo stars to annihilate the orks that had fled from them so long ago. Fighting throughout the halo stars little was heard from the chapter other than when it returned to the galactic core to recruit or answer a call for aid, and it would disappear again shortly afterward. Indeed the chapter’s next major crusade in the Imperium was the Corinthian crusade when they finally reunited with the Ultramarines a cause of great joy to both chapters after millennia of separation. Since then then the Nemesis chapter has divided itself between the innumerable conflicts sending forces across the imperium, indeed chapters of the Nemesis chapter have been seen fighting in the 12th black crusade, the evacuation of Gryphonne IV, the Third War for Armageddon, and the 13th black crusade.Chapter Fleet The Nemesis Chapter has forsaken any home world to carry out their duties, instead their home is aboard their fortress monastery the Caelestis Confector (Divine Destroyer). As with all fleet based chapters the number of ships in the Nemesis fleet, however unlike many chapters the composition of the Nemesis fleet varies greatly. The Fleet includes the Caelestis Confector, 2 Battlebarges, 2 modified Excorcist class crusiers, and numerous escorts. All of the chapter’s strike cruisers were destroyed in the Binary War, and have never been replaced due to the capture of the Excorcists. The chapter also lacks the mechanicum support arks that many other fleet-based chapters have, instead having to rely on forge worlds to support them. Combat Doctrine The Nemesis Chapter has developed a fierce reputation as shock troops. Tales of their battles record that they leave complete devastation wherever they have fought, nothing with any trace of chaos or xenos is left standing. Indeed, some elements of the Imperium hesitate to call on the chapter to deal with invasions for fear of their tactics. However, the Nemesis Chapter is among the best in the Imperium at purging the enemies of the Imperium. Experts with a blade the battle-brothers of the chapter are elite close quarters fighters that advance without hesitation on the enemy. As a fleet based chapter the Nemesis Chapter are specialists in boarding actions, renowned for the speed at which the can capture or destroy ships and planetary defenses. On planet the chapter prefers to strike from the sky, making extensive use of Thunderhawks, Storm Eagle Landers, and Drop Pods to strike at specific targets behind enemy lines bringing overwhelming force against the vulnerable supply and command areas in order to cut the head and legs from their enemy. Chapter Organization As a Primogenitor the Nemesis Chapter reveres its genefather’s greatest work the Codex Astartes, however its experiences in long crusades and the events of the Age of Apostasy have led to divergences from the Codex. The chapter’s doctrine of shock and highly mobile warfare eschews the use of devastators, instead using heavy armor and dreadnoughts when long range fire is required. Additionally, the losses during the Age of Apostasy led to a reorganization of the chapter’s companies scouts are no longer organized into a single company, instead each scout is assigned to a battle-brother and organized these into the 9th and 10th companies. Chapter Beliefs As with the majority of Adeptus Astartes chapters the Nemesis chapter venerates the Emperor of Mankind and their primarch, Roboute Guilliman, as the greatest men ever to walk the stars. However, they vehemently oppose the ecclesiarchy’s message of the Emperor and god. Never a chapter predisposed to strong beliefs the war with the ecclesiarchy created a great distrust and dislike for them. Indeed, to this day the chapter chaplains do not take the rosarius as a symbol of their office, instead carrying a copy of the Codex Astartes incorporating a refractor field. Gene Seed The Nemesis Chapter was formed from the Ultramarine Legion’s fiercest and most disciplined members, Veterans of Calth, Colchis, and the Great Scouring the Warriors of the Nemesis chapter remain descendants of these great Ultramarines. Andrew J
Great start to your IA. I like your ideas a lot and there were but a few minor grammatical errors that I noticed. As with all fleet based chapters the number of ships in the Nemesis fleet, however unlike many chapters the composition of the Nemesis fleet varies greatly. Hard to read, looks like you had 2 thoughts that got mashed together. You my sons forsaking any rest, forsaking any respite, you shall be the bring ruin to the enemies of man, they will whisper your names in terror and you shall be called Nemesis, lords of retribution.” read that over again. Other than that read back over and see if there are areas you can flesh out some more. I think the Chapter Beliefs could use some more. Keep it up! Chapter Master Ignis Domus
Have you been reading the Purifiers/Nemesis joint IA recently? :) Fortunately for you, that doesn't seem to have too much fluff, so you essentially have free reign to do whatever you want with them. Brother Tyler
When I was looking up a name for my own Chapter I learned there already is a Nemesis Chapter: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Nemesis#.T5GyLdVHmjs Judging by his "Chapter History" and "Origin" sections, I'm guessing that he already knows this and is fleshing the official Chapter out. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/251083-ia-nemesis-chapter/#findComment-3044574 Share on other sites
