IA: Ghost Chapter

Okay, I'll try to put this very long story into short blurbs.

M29, two of the accelerated gene culturing chambers, 2 and 11, used to create the Primarchs were saved, at the cost of hundreds if not thousands of the Emperor's finest warriors and Sisters of Silence.

Part of what contributed to make the 18 great was the turmoil they had a children. It made them each unique and stronger. For the two saved it was not the same. From the moment we were taken from the chamber we knew who and what we were. We grew up as gods among men. Training was hard, but we endured in a sence. It was hard for us to take things seriously. We were not the best of sons.

For me the training was like a game and I treated it as such. In our wargames I treated troops as pawns, there to be used and disposed of. I did learn tactics and strategy well, and began to love the game. For me it stopped being about winning, just about playing the game. I'd often let my brother win since he seemed to feel the need more then I. The 11th Legion was mine to command, and we were masters at war.

The 2nd Legion belonged to my brother ... and he hated it. The 1st should have been his, save for the numbering of the chambers it may well have been. We were both spoiled I guess, but acted moreso. He never took anything seriously, pranks and tricks were his nature ... that and an overwhelming superiority complex. We played when we should train, we hid and taunted our guides.

In time, the Warp Storms surrounding the Sol System cleared and preparation for the Great Crusade, it was then that the horror that was our disgrase happened. Our fleets and about 1/2 of our Legions were in space preparing to depart. My brother wanted to play one more prank before we left, or so he told me. To do so, he said we'd have to get to our father, the Emperor, alone. I had no real idea what he had in mind, but it was a challenge and for me that made it all worth while.

I planned how to get into the palace unseen, I planned how to draw the guards away, I got us to our father. It was almost too late that I realized that his need to be first went beyond the Legions ... he ment to be first in all things, he wanted to be Emperor. I blocked the killing blow, and we fought for what seemed like hours. Most likely only minutes. I didn't hold back this time, and he soon realized that he wasn't the best afterall. He fled to his fleet and ran, I pursued. We caught his fleet quickly and they never had a chance. I slew my brother as my Legion destroyed his.

I couldn't go back, not after all I'd done. All I could do was hope that when the Emperor found out lost brothers .... perhaps they'd be better men.

Well, that's an interesting take on the idea, for certain. :D

My first thought, though, is that it'd be a lot of hassle to explain how a chapter based on your missing legion still exists, and is hanging around.

you're probably better off working with the secret-ultramarine-chapter approach, although I still can't think of any event that would justify their creation. :D

Not really difficult at all. The Legion was with me, now only around 1000 remain ... after all the battles, even with constant new recruits added through the years. I really think I should continue with my original idea.

New update, going with my original idea. Remember its all for fun.

  • 1 month later...

I love it that on a board defined (among other things) by it's dedication to shared interpretations, traditions and common ideas of what is believable in the shared universe, you continually screw us over by writing stuff like this :P

No much to comment on so far.

I think your take is interesting, but I find it hard to see how this will mesh with the information in the HH-series.

Still, I'll wait and see :)

Going back to how I originally wrote this up, I think I've found a reason for the UMs to have made a chapter in secret.

Before I do more, please let me know it chasing the Star Child will work.

I have absolutely no idea, so I'll have to leave this to those with the knowledge.

Well they're main mission will be to collect information on the Star Child while cleaning up the Cults and eventually its thier main goal to catch and destroy the heresy that the Star Child represents.

Another question I forgot to add. Where would everyone's DIY Chapter stand in this, and where would the Chapters of Legend Stand.

- For my White Hand Chapter, it's clear. The Emperor is a god, both alive and dead. He does not need to be reincarnated. The Star Child is Heresy.

- For my Sons of Pyron, hard to say. I guess they'd wait to see if the Star Child showed any signs of weakness or taint.

My DIY's have no clearer idea of this than I do. ;)

'Star what now?' and a perplexed expression would probably be their response.
