A question about the Wolves and the Deathwatch.

It’s kinda complicated really. I’m writing a Deathwatch story as part of a collaborative effort and I’ve drawn up a cast of four characters. An Ultramarine as the Tactical Marine/Squad Leader, a Red Scorpion as the Apothecary, a Salamander as the Devastator and a Space Wolf as an Assault Marine guy.

Now this would work fine if the Space Wolf guy never used a jump pack, but there is a rather important scene that I’m planning that involves the Assault guy running around with a jump pack to kill stuff. Now the problem is the only problem I have with that is the only Space Wolves to use jump packs to my knowledge are Skyclaws who are done so partially as a punishment.

But I doubt the Wolves would send a mere Blood Claw to the Deathwatch. The character I’m planning is a veteran Grey Hunter or a Wolf Guard. The question I’m namely asking if it’s plausible for said Space Wolf to use said jump pack like a traditional assault marine or would that be too OOC and awkward?

Also in the Wolfblade novels, Ragnar and the Wolfblade use jump packs to get to an orbiting station. Like it said in the White Dwarf article,"Wolves prefer to fight on their feet as Russ intended. This doesn't mean that they won't do somethings, they would just prefer not to."

I think it's justifiable in the sense that Space Wolves, like all Space Marines, get the job done... Space Wolves moreso than others because they adhere more loosely to the devout restrictions of Emperor-worship. Regardless, getting the job done means using that jump pack (be it ever so briefly), or ripping an Ogryn's arm off and beating him with it. We make do.

I'd also maybe keep in mind that Skyclaws prefer fighting with jump packs, whereas another Wolf might simply see it as a brief means to an end and use it til they don't need it anymore.

Whatever it takes to get us closer to the bad guys. I've taken them before, even if they are overpriced, and last apoc. game they tore the crap out of a large oblit. squad and a chaos terminator squad.

SW would never send a BC to the DW because they would be concerned that he would go all wulfen and kill everything, so it would be a WG they would send.

There is a little bit of fluff somewhere that has a Long Fang who has been sent to the Deathwatch. He is describing life on Fenris in the context of sharing with his new Battle Brothers, so that they can bond as a fighting unit.

I'm with GM, sometimes the noble savage fearing technology thing gets a little over played.

These are trained professionals who will use what is required to get the job done. They may not like it, but may even teleport on occasion (just not for tabletop play) :)
