Gareth Posted April 22, 2012 Share Posted April 22, 2012 All I seem to be painting this year are big projects... Arachnarok, Tyranid Hierophant and now a Grey Knight Storm Raven. This was a really enjoyable project. The Storm Raven is a great kit which goes together beautifully (unlike the dreaded warped Land Speeder models). With its large flat areas it's a great piece to practice freehand on. I had a lot of fun painting the iconography on, it really helps break up the model and make it look interesting. I did the same trick with my Ultramarine Storm Raven. I wasn't going to weather the Storm Raven, because I spent so long blending the airbrushed armour. In the end I decided to try a new technique. Using an old blister pack sponge and some Rhinox hide, I dabbed the paint onto the raised edges to show tiny chipping clusters. I added some smoke damage to the exhausts and around the thrusters. Honda Posted April 22, 2012 Share Posted April 22, 2012 I'm not a big fan of the model without the extensions, but you have certainly done a masterful job of painting.
