Grey Knight Purifier
Black Templar’s Battle Report. Today, I played my first game of Warhammer 40k. I took a trip to my LGS, and engaged a Vanilla Marine Army if 750 point combat. The battle was to be decided by the claiming objectives. Five objectives were placed, and we deployed in our respective table halves. Deployment was staggered, and I choose to deploy my first Rhino/Crusader Squad Combo. My Emperor’s Champion rode in the Rhino with the squad. My opponent deployed a Librarian, and two sets of Combat Squads. He deployed the first in a ruin, which contained an objective. With four Bolters and one Missile Launcher, this squad did not do much. His second squad deployed in the center of his half of the table. It contained his Librarian, and would also fail to do anything significant. His third and fourth squads were the extent of my difficulties during the game. His third squad had a Sergeant with a Combi-Flamer, three Bolters, and one Flamer. His fourth squad was four Bolters and a Missile Launcher. They pretty much existed to get wiped out. On the first turn, my opponent failed to steal the initiative, and after both of our movement, the board looked like this. I made my first major mistake here, and totally forgot to pop smoke. First turn was inconsequential, and not much happened. Second turn, we rolled to bring in our reserves, and then bad things started happening. I brought in my second Rhino/Crusader Squad, and my Landspeeder Typhoon. I continued to move my Rhino, and continued to forget smoke. My opponent was unable to do any serious damage though, and at worst I suffered a crew shaken result. More seriously, due to a lucky hit, my Typhoon was immobilized. Due to firing arcs, I was still able to use it for a while, but it was frozen right on the edge of the table. He also brought in a Predator Destructor, which would get in a few lucky shots. I brought in my five man shooty squad, who would do a little, but not a lot. Third Turn, I disembarked from my first rhino, and moved into cover. I continued to fire my Storm Bolters, and managed my first kill. Interestingly, this Rhino would survive for most of the game. I moved my second Rhino up, and began firing on the Combat Squad with the Missiles and Bolters. This squad began firing on my Rhino, and with a lucky shot, immobilized it. If I had been smart and remembered smoke, this would not have happened. Next, My opponent deep-struck a unit of Terminators right next to my shooty squad, and the objective that they were holding. Due to almost unbelievable die rolls, I was able to kill one, and not take any damage from the subsequent assault and shooting. My squad with my Emperor’s Champion continued to move through cover, and was surprised with a rather unpleasant revelation. The squad that it was moving to assault was armed with two flamers. Miraculously, I was able to make my armor saves, and used the casualties to move into assault range. My second Crusader squad moved into firing range of the Missile Launcher squad, and with some nice shooting, was able to kill two bolter marines. I don’t really recall what happened fifth turn, as it was not important. Sixth turn, I finished off both of the small combat squads, and my Landspeeder was destroyed by the Terminators. However, just to spite my opponent, it exploded, killing two. My opponent moved his remaining mobile squad down the board, and took an objective. I was pulled off of my objective, due to a righteous zeal move, and the game ended with my Opponent controlling two Objectives, and me controlling none. Most of my pictures did not turn out very well, but I definitely learned some stuff, so I hope my next game goes better. Polythemus
Nice batrep. Blurry pics are better than none. Its hard to get a gripon this without my knowing more about terrain and such but Do you think that you could have manuvered your champion against those objective holding units? Kierdale
Yes, a few quick photos would really help...or if you could work up some basic maps in an art program. Paint is good enough! Grey Knight Purifier
My dad was taking pictures, so most of them are not the airiel shots I need. I am drawing up some turn by turn maps in paint, and should have those in a little bit.
