Stealing chapter badges.

After some thought, I have managed to start a DIY chapter. The chapter badge I have in mind is that of the Red Scorpions. I find it fits the chapter but am unsure if it is acceptable. In your honest opinions, do you guys think it's ok for chapters to share the same badges? Or does it come off as lazy and tacky?

It's no problem. A lot of the Chapter badges are used over and over again, particularly among parent/successor Chapters. As long as the colours or combination of badge elements used make the new Chapter look different from the others it's fine.

Obvious GW examples: Imperial/Crimson Fists, Black/White Consuls; same badge in a different scheme!

So long as you don't also use the same colour-scheme as the Red Scorpions, I don't see a problem. :D

Also, using the same badge but in a different colour, like white or purple or even black with yellow polka dots would make it a very different badge indeed.

You could even use a different shade of red, perhaps.

I have gone through many different versions of my Chapter badge until I came up with an idea. I knew I wanted a winged sword like the Dark Angels, but with dragon/daemonic wings. It didn't look right until I remade it as a tribal design. It looks very unique now, while still looking like it fits within the universe. If changing the colour of the badge doesn't do it for you, you could change the style. From an simple image to a tribal design, or how about a scorpion that looks like hieroglyphics?

Just some ideas
