Picture a DA vet in robes with a winged jumpack and a huge sword... I see your point on the Flesh Tearer feel now. A force that is no longer at its best, fighting for survival with little hope. Guest Azeikel Posted April 29, 2012 Share Posted April 29, 2012 Heres an idea for a successor chapter's founding and mission that has been brewing in my head for a while: The thirteenth founding occurred in the early 36th millennium. It has since been dubbed the 'dark founding' because the number of chapters created are unknown to the Imperium as well as which chapters were created. It is also the only founding from which the Adeptus Terra does not posses the original gene seed of the founded chapters. It remains a telling gap in Imperial records to this day. Some have suggested that the Dark Angels were responsible for the destruction/loss of the records concerning the 13th founding. It is said that they did so to conceal the creation of a large number of Dark Angel successor chapters. The "insert chapter name here" are rumoured to be one of these chapters. lhg033 Posted April 30, 2012 Share Posted April 30, 2012 I think the Flesh Tearer backgroud of a few companies with limited tanks and everyone adept in all roles due to limited numbers is nice starting point for a successor. you can either go the decimated chapter route (armageddon server losses or something) or new chapter still building up. if following this theme it may be worth saying no or very limited teminators/dreadnoughts. Ravenwing equivalents could be a few squards as bikes are probably fairly easy to make though speeders might be a bit harder to get hold of. on the mech theme - the armoury and personel associated dont contribute to a chapters standing force in terms of body count. a potential theme for an mech army could be that DA's or a successor were audited by terra and found to have a significant number of marines assigned to the armory so a successor was ordered created of a few hundred bodies . Depending onthe route you go this could be plain marines with vehicles galore, veterns with lots of bionics that had moved to the armory to continue supporting the chapter when they were less able to make war or more techmarines and dreads. There is now a writing competition underway and one of the submissions is a Successor datafile the other is a fun-fic on any Unforgiven successor. The chapter started life after the boarding action against the Incarcerator by the Allseers over the planet of Paxum secondous. A successor of the dark angels they were well versed in such an art. What they did not expect, however, was that the warboss on board was ready for them. The fighting would claim the lives of all but a handful of marines. A Sargent by the name of Jordaous Varontal would be the only marine to reach the fallen chapter master, and would lead the assault on the bridge. In the end, only a handful of warriors on both sides survived. Jordaous Varontal would be selected to lead a new chapter. The chapter faced it's darkest day during the Ziest campaign. Supreem grand master Jordaous Varontal was killed in a duel with the Ork Warboss he had failed to kill over Paxum secondous. The chapter once had a large fleet of a chapter fortress, Honor of the Lion, and two battle barges, the Fidelity and the Incinerator. They had ten strike cruisers and numerous rapid strike vessels. During the Ziest campaign they lost all of there vessels except for the Incinerator. The honor of the lion was able to limp to Vormo. Vormo was not a safe haven at the time. An attack was underway by hive fleet Zenite. The attack had made planetfall in the desert of Vermoch the sight of saint Sellena's Basilica, a sister of battle wohm had saved the planet many years prior. The invasion had just reached the shrine whe the entire remnants of the angels chapter came crashing down to the planet saving the shrine and planet from destruction. Jordaous Varontal had passed the position down to his chosen successor Nicholas Angel. Under Angel, the chapter would begin to rebuild up to its pre Ziest strength - Came in to being at aproximatly 500 years into the 41st milleanium - they hunt down thier own group of fallen angels, who split from them after the Ziest campaign. Home World or Fleet based - Vormo is a half desert iland and half forest world with one island devoted compleatly to the capital hive - tries to keep armour plain, but banners are usually worn by some mebers, and robs are seen as an important medal Combat Doctrine - most armour was lost in the Ziest campaign and is lightly used. - specialize in bording and planatary assult actions, as well ad dfending postions -will not tolarate anyone who puts thiere on life ahead of thiose who are not able to help themselve, very salamanders like in thier defence of civilians. Organization - Inner Circle: inner cicle has tiers, the more you know the further down and closer to the center you are in the meating room. - Deathwing: named Grenadiers after the elite vorman soilders: has only one landraider and has only 50 members - Ravenwing: nammed hussars after the vorman calvary, uses bikes speeders and a few tanks, has only 70 members - Battlecry Only in death does duty end, AND IN IT THIER IS NO DISHONOR!
